Yup, folks would rather sit on their asses and collect unemployment checks. That's what Republicans keep telling us.

i don't think the GOPer representing the Holland area is gonna be holding any open door town halls any time soon.

Aldi, a discount grocery chain that's expanding in Michigan, has been holding job fairs all over the state.

There was one Monday in Holland, where an estimated 1,000 people showed up to vie for 12 positions, according to a news report from WOOD-TV (Channel 8).

If crowds don't discourage you, there's a job fair today, Tuesday, in Ann Arbor at 2340 Dexter Road. It doesn't end until 9 p.m., so you still have time to grab your resume and go.

Aldi is known for keeping its staffing tight, and according to Indeed.com, the pay isn't overly generous, but these are tough times. Here's what Indeed says the pay is for some key positions:
Shift Manager Hiring Event, $30,000
Cashier Shift Manager, $29,000
Assistant Store Manager, $47,000
Cashier Hiring Event, $24,000

1. People want to work. Americans are not MOOCHERS or loafers!
The 30 years of denigrating american work force by Reagan and his minions has done real damage to the american economy and the american psyche. The Murdogs and Kochroaches with front men like REAGAN and BUSH have been undermining the american democracy in order to concentrate american wealth and assets at the top. The "Little people" just need business to run the country and to govern. The people are just too ignorant to have the rights to participate in elections. Look what is happening across the country where those states led by Republicans are passing voter suppression laws.

2. Any time Aldi in my town hires
there is an application list a mile long. Pay for a cashier is around $11 an hour, according to a recent want ad-far better than what a clerk would earn at Walmart. And groceries are dirt cheap, which means most of the cashiers actually shop where they work.

4. i love my aldi's too--see same folks for a long time so turnover must not be a huge problem
but they do seem to be moving faster and working harder than other stores so perhaps utopia it is not.
