For the first time in a very long time, I have cable TV again. Don't ask me why I broke down and got it, ending a years-long personal boycott of Corporate Media Infoganda. For years and years I refused, now finally I have it again.
Since I do, I now scan Cable TV News to see just how bad it has gotten with my own eyes. DU and youtube are great and all, but nothing beats seeing with one's own eyes. In short, it's far worse even than it ever was out there in Corporate Infogandaland.
As with most people, I have watched even more Cable TV Nonsense due to this tragedy, and even for the first time in years also have sampled for as long as I can stomach it...yes...Fox.
Wow. What a crazy 21st Century Kinder and Gentler Nazi Fest it is over there! Maybe the tragedy will force it to tone down but DON'T YOU BANK ON IT.
So I'm watching the opening of Beck last night and his pious denunciations of violence (no mention of strangling Michael Moore, eh?) using MLK.
I'm steaming at the shameless hypocrisy, and sitting there thinking that's exactly what he wants. Standard Bushiganda or Naziganda strategy. Piss off your opponent to put them off their game. And they are right, too. It works. Anger fuels a chemical reaction that drops IQ 20 points, studies have revealed. It's a standard sports strategy, but as we have seen from Bill Parcells' "working the ref" (and owning him through Corporate HQ) as it translates to their RW Propaganda and Viral Media Strategy, sports strategies can be very effective, especially when combined with trillions of dollars and all the power of the Military-Intelligence Complex.
But WAIT. There's something else going on here in plain sight. It was nagging at me. Something about Beck's intonations and body language, deviating from his usual "Evil Mr. Rogers" persona. It was off just a bit, and so subtle I don't think my conscious mind picked up on it at first.
But it nagged at me. Then, just now, it came to me in a flash.
Glenn Beck quotes Martin Luther King, Jr. to his audience when he wants them to know not to take what he says seriously. (but pretend like Glenn that they do)
Glenn Beck uses MLK as a dog-whistle to both the conscious (of the meaner, racist half of his audience) and the subconscious (of the nicer, more clueless half of his audience - yes they exist at least until they start moving up the rungs of the RWs Ladder of Hate) of his audience.
Every winger and partaker of RW propaganda knows MLK was a socialist and a communist and all that. Most of them despise him at some level, especially the Confderate portion of his audience, which I am sure is a significant percentage.
I mean, it doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective. Why talk about MLK to a demographic that is going to be turned off by the subject? Because it's the secret little Nazi game. It's as if Josef Goebbels had to make pious declarations that he would never harm a single hair on a Jew's head, that he denounces violence and here is a quote about nonviolence from the great Zionist Leader Theodore Herzl.Wow. What can I say but...wow. Now THAT is some evil genius right there!
Maybe I am out of touch and somebody else has figured it out before, but I have never seen this anywhere before. What does everyone think?
Am I on to something here?
