How did I miss this?
Kucinich Building Support for the National Emergency Employment Defense Act; "Time to Get Real about Creating Jobs"

Washington D.C. (August 17, 2011) -- Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today wrote to colleagues to enlist support for his dramatic, new, concrete plan to get Americans working again, rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and to take control of our monetary policy from private banks to promote the public interest. "It is time to get real about creating jobs. Not just talk about it. But come up with real, concrete proposals which can put America back to work," he said. Kucinich is planning to introduce the National Emergency Employment Defense Act later this year.

1. How did you miss it?
Our corporate media have deemed this utterly non-newsworthy. Now if some repug came up with a plan that would be lucky to create 100 jobs - yet managed to shovel billions into the greedy hands of GOP contributors - we'd have wall-to-wall coverage.

12. Need to rec just for this response.
One minor quibble -- even if the Repug plan DESTROYS thousands of jobs -- and they almost all do -- they will just name it something like "The American Patriot Freedom Jobs For Jesus Act" and their base will eat it up, with the M$M as eager to help as if they were running franchises licensed by the RNC.

2. I wish him well.
Waaaay past time for someone in DC to step up to the plate! Guess he's like me-tired of waiting for the leaders to actually lead.

3. When he's got a hundred and fifty co-sponsors...

...including a couple dozen Republicans, then it'll matter. A bit.

Even then it'll die in the Rules Committee. Dems don't control the House.

Any rep can circulate a letter, and put a bill in the hopper.

5. Any of them can, but how many of them have?
And why nit pick at those who do make the effort others have not made, and others still are apparently not quite ready to make?

17. It's not that he's not trying..
Edited on Fri Aug-19-11 04:50 PM by Davis_X_Machina
...it's what he's trying to do. Which is make sure you read about Dennis Kucinich every day, even if he has to write the articles himself.

His effort is duplicative of others', with no better chance of passage, or affecting policy.

14. It matters now. I admire the guy b/c while everybody else is
perfecting their smoke and mirrors and sleight of hand, he's actually THINKING and attempting to do something. More than I can say about most of our (so called) advocates and leaders. GO DENNIS.

4. This in a Republican House?
I'm thinking this bill has quite a bit less than Dennis' usual 4% chance of becoming law.

7. It's not about making law, or stopping law from being made...
...it's about Making a Statement. We're in the present mess, apparently, because the wrong Statements, or not enough Statements, are being made.

6. You missed it cuz Kucinich looks like an elf,
carries a pocket Constitution, advocates for a Department of Peace & is a vegan.

There is nothing serious enough about any of that for the MSM to even consider. On a slow news day, Kucinich is good for poking fun at.

Thanks for posting. I missed it too.

15. You're welcome. Too bad we can't clone the elf looking,
pocket Constitution carrying, Dept of Peace advocating vegan.
;-) Your explanation made me laugh, thanks for that.

10. Dennis refuses to follow the corporatist program. Why would MSM
give free publicity to an outspoken Ddemocrat who is obviously a sworn enemy of their corporate dictatorship?
