Life can suck some days, it did for me today
Edited on Thu Aug-18-11 07:26 PM by Omaha Steve

I met with my bosses today. Best managers on the planet. Most of you know I had shoulder surgery in January. I also have a pinched nerve in my neck causing problems. I've been in therapy for several months. I start work hardness therapy tomorrow. I pretty much HAVE to get back to being able to lift 90 pounds and use 100 pounds of force. Most of the jobs I could demote to also have heavy physical requirements. The next couple months will tell. The case nurse assured me they will not rush this and give me plenty of time to try to get to where I need to be. If not, I'm looking at a disability.

I love my job and co-workers. I want to stay.

OS

Robin McKenzie?

http://tvnz.co.nz/health-news/chiropractors-you-don-t-need-them-says-expert-3646641/video

His Book called Treat Your Own Back saved my back: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=treat+own+back&tag=googhydr-20&index=stripbooks&hvadid=6592221041&ref=pd_sl_32zmtovtyv_b

And when I started having neck problems, I got this one: 7 Steps to a Pain-Free Life: How to Rapidly Relieve Back and Neck Pain by Robin McKenzie and Craig Kubey (Oct 2, 2001)

I see he also has one on shoulders but I have never read it.

I can say that these are easy to follow guidelines and exercises. Some are so easy you won't believe but they offer such relief.

Good luck. I am a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and I am very familiar with disability and return to work issues. Give yourself time to get through this as best you can, take care of yourself and hang in there. Was this shoulder/neck injury due to a work-related accident? If so, do you know whether, if you are unable to return to your pre-injury job, you are eligible for vocational rehab counseling and vocational or educational training to an occupation more physically appropriate for your limitations?

14. Pinched nerve?

Try doing this with your body:

Stand straight in a place with plenty of room to swing your arms.

Relax. Totally relax. Then from the hips turn your upper body back and forth.

Your arms will fly out, stretching your upper back and neck muscles.

You must let your arms totally relax and use only your lower back muscles to make the motion.

Once you get motion going, rock your head back and forth and side to side, like real loose dancing.
