Why did the President say this about Rick Perry...
"I'll cut him some slack. He's only been at this for a few days."

Why does he DO THIS?

Why won't he shred the guy to pieces right now! Screw cutting Perry some slack. Fight, Mr. President! FIGHT!

1. He was belittling Perry's lack of experience.
Not to hard to figure that one out.

18. So President Obama had what .... two years experience in the U.S. Senate?

So he might be on shaky ground attacking Perry's lack of experience.

That's hardly a major problem or issue with Perry. It's his experience record that's the problem, not the lack of one!

Perry's got tons of experience doing crap!

5. Damning with faint praise, tweaking his lack of experience
in a national campaign without coming right out and saying so. A much better means of going after an opponent than "shredding to pieces." Obama looks adult and gracious; Perry looks like a dick.

8. Bidding for people trending centrist, who won't admit that they'd even consider going into the votin
g booth and selecting any Democrat, but might do it anyway if someone made them nervous enough and also trying to avoid turning same into contrarians by being nasty at the wrong time.

Also, provoking Perry with his low-key disdain.

But, yeah, I'm with you; I am HUNGRY for the President to do some hell-fire and brimstone barnstorming!

12. I'm down on Obama and think that he is really blowing it, but ...
this is obviously a real put down of Perry. True, it may be too subtle for many voters, but they're the types who would vote Repuke anyway.

15. What purpose would "shredding" him serve? I have many criticisms
of the president but at least he acts like an adult. Your OP, on the other hand, is nothing but shit-stirring.

19. Perry has a ton of political experience. "Experience" is not the issue!

Perry's "lack of experience" would be a hot button issue in a presidential campaign?

You gotta be kiddin!

That's hardly a major problem or issue with Perry. It's his experience record that's the problem, not the lack of one!

Perry's got tons of experience doing crap!

23. The President is too smart to go into the much with Perry ... so instead he ...
leveraged a surrogate.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/08/16/gibbs_on_perry_remarkable_turnaround_from_secession_comment.html

This is how a President responds to such an idiotic comment from some one like Perry.

24. Because Perry is a wingnut and Obama can more easily trounce him than Romney. So Obama wants
Perry to get the nomination. I concur.
