Anyone have a link to an opt out (from military recruitment) form that's not district-specific?

Both my sons are in high school this year, and we don't want either one to be contacted by military recruiters. Previously I've used the form on the American Friends Service Committee web site, but the link is not working. All the other forms I've seen are tied to a specific school district.

I wonder if with the economy so bad (and a third war going on), there will be an upswing in recruiting.

2. Is this something I'll need to be concerned with? My son is

just going into 6th grade this year. Do I need to be concerned that early?

I know that when my daughter went into 8th grade, we put a letter on file for her with both the school and district offices. It seemed to work pretty well. I can't think of a single contact they tried to make and she was an Honors/AP student. Girls good in calculus, stats, and chemistry usually are highly sought after.

Now she's going into college majoring in Art Conservation, and who does her adviser work closely with? The military, specifically in Iraq, preserving museum collections and directing some of the conservation dealing with the mass grave sites the military has uncovered.

UGH! As long as she's happy, feels safe, and loves what she'll be doing, that's all parents can hope for.

5. No, our high school has zero, zip, nada, zilch word about it at registration

4. The problem with teenaged boys is that often no one needs to contact them

all it takes is for a friend to say.."hey let's go check it out".

My son did this , and we had non stop phone calls and one recruiter even came to the house..


Luckily our son did not sign up, but he did take "the test" and got 100% (whatever that means).. He did this 2 days before he left for school in Italy and I was the one who had to take all the phone calls :)
