Report calls cohabitation new "threat" to child well-being
http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/127883263.html

The rise of unmarried, cohabiting parents is "the largest unrecognized threat" to the stability and well-being of children in the U.S., according to a pro-marriage group's new report, co-authored by University of Minnesota professor William Doherty.

<snip>

An executive summary of the report is here: http://www.americanvalues.org/wmm/wmm3es.pdf (however, you need a username & password to view it). The full report is for sale on the institute's web site.

---------------

Another agenda-driven "study" by a right-wing group. Curiously, they don't support marriage equality. :sarcasm:

1. They think a state issued sex license will make everything dandy.
A marriage certificate will NOT make someone love you or respect you.

They want people to get married so that they will lose their welfare benefits.

That's the real agenda.

They are making a fetish out of a piece of paper.

:banghead:

2. Actually, they want people to marry so as to encourage wife-beating
It's not QUITE that cut and dried, but that's what it adds up to.

3. You got it...
My parents were married. It sure didn't do me any good...not when my father drank and beat up my mother and threatened to knock us kids into a wall.

And my poor kids didn't have such a great life during my first two marriages.

In fact, they only had a halfway normal life when we all lived with a guy I wasn't married to. Cohabiting!!!!

They think marriage is the answer to all of life's problems.

Idiots.
