Is dementia setting in?

Perry isn't Bush on steroids. He's Bush on PCP.

The more idiots they throw in the ring the better! This is the GOP's self-branding moment, and they are branding themselves as the idiot party. I'm all for it!

9. We need to help them with that branding.
Phrases that easily roll off the tongue such as "ridiculous republicans", "teahadist", something along the obstructionist theme--anything that casts them in a bad light. Create it and repeat, repeat, repeat and repeat, ad infinitum, ad nausium.

He never said, "Perry is crazy" nor did he call Perry a hypocrite. I wish he had.

Instead, DLC Bill balanced his rather jocular-chuckle-chuckle criticism with warm compliments.

Why are you denying the truth? I linked to a reputable source which back me up.

Instead what we got was a chuckle-chuckle jocular criticism softpeddled with warm compliments.

<< So, what about Obama's praise of Raygun? That's okay by you, I guess... >>

DLC Hillary, on the other hand, was a crazed Young Republican who campaigned with Reagan to elect Barry Goldwater:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=727588&mesg_id=728178

As a Young Republican, Hillary also attended the 1968 Republican convention when she was almost 21. Even when she ran for
President, she listed Reagan as one of her favorite presidents: http://www.newser.com/story/16799/dems-slam-obamas-praise-for-reagan.html

President Obama praised Reagan's communication skills but never his policies:

Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 04:46 PM by muffin1
He mocked that Perry claims to be anti-government when, in fact, he would be flying on Air Force One, Marine One, going to Camp David, etc. Then Clinton said, "I mean, this is crazy". See? The "hypocrisy" part is the beginning, and the "crazy" is at the end of his remarks. I can hardly conclude Clinton is a Perry fan from that.

Edit for posting before done.

Obama praises Repukes on a regular basis - "they're acting in good faith", "I have no doubt they'll do what it takes to do the right thing for the country" - and you guys love it. He's the adult in the room, you say.

Clinton knows what "is" is.

Ras·cal noun
1. a base, dishonest, or unscrupulous person

Synonyms
1. rapscallion, scamp, villain, miscreant, scapegrace. See knave.

29. How would a quote from Clinton help a rabid right winger in the GE?
Obviously, Clinton was saying that is ALL Perry has got.

“And he’s saying ‘Oh, I’m going to Washington to make sure that the federal government stays as far away from you as possible –while I ride on Air Force One and that Marine One helicopter and go to Camp David and travel around the world and have a good time.’ I mean, this is crazy.

Look, every person, including even public employees can think of a tax they thought was too high, a program they thought was nuts, a regulation they thought didn’t make any sense. And criticizing the government is part of the birthright of America. After all, we were born in reaction to unaccountable government from King George and the parliament, right? We’ve all done it. But there is not a single, solitary successful nation on earth today that does not have both an effective government and a good economy. And in the world we live in you can’t have ‘em unless you have both. So, the thing that bothers me about this debate in Washington is that is makes this us majors into minors and it’s likely to give us policies that will make the economy worse.

Again, I have to wonder how in the world this could help Perry at all.

37. That is ridiculous. Centrists, and Conservative Democrats are not teabaggers.
Also, I don't know anyone who read or watched his comments and honestly see them as anything other that a dis of his policies. I also don't understand why any Democrat would want to spin Clinton's dis as a praise for Perry, which it obviously wasn't.

Again, not centrist or Dem of any stripe sees Perry as anything other than a absolute nut.

Considering the level of vitriol levelled at President Obama daily, I don't doubt that will happen again in 2012. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt that I am. Time will tell.

It's clear from my quote that Bubba offered warm compliments of Perry. Why anyone would deny that is beyond me. After all, I'm not denying he also chuckled out a soft peddled jocular criticism of Perry. I would rather he have left off the gushy compliments and been much stronger in his criticism.

We don't need anybody from the Democratic Party giving any aid and comfort to a GOP opponent of an incumbent President in a crucial election year.

27. Thanks for adding the context. But even that quote is inaccurate.
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 04:33 PM by Vattel
He said "I got tickled. I watched Governor Perry announce for governor--for president . . ." Then we got the slight misquote, "I got tickled by watching Governor Perry announce . . ." But the game of telephone doesn't stop there. Pretty soon we get "journalists" saying that Clinton said that he "got tickled to see Governor Perry enter the race . . ." And finally some are reporting that Clinton said that he was tickled that Governor Perry entered the race. It's sad that our public discourse has become so ridiculously stupid. It's dangerous too. Remember when Gore correctly said that he helped to create the internet. He was obviously talking about his legislative efforts to help set up the internet, but Rush modified the quote and soon even mainstream journalists were repeating the lie that Gore claimed that he invented the internet.
