Poor MSM ignored Ron Paul? Really?
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 01:55 PM by abelenkpe
Ideologically consistent Ron Paul? Honest Ron Paul? Poor, poor MSM ignored Ron Paul?

Ron Paul should be ignored. He's a bigot (http://articles.cnn.com/2008-01-10/politics/paul.newsletters_1_newsletters-blacks-whites?_s=PM:POLITICS), with horrible ideas on how to handle the economy(http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/05/extreme-ron-paul-president-2012) and a conspiracy nut. While I agree with him that we should end the wars, stop trying to police the world and spend the money rebuilding our own nation that is the only thing he supports that I agree with. In every other way his policies are dangerous to the economy, the environment(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCc5Gk1nops), the elderly and disabled(http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/05/15/166363/paul-ss-medicare-slavery/), women(http://prospect.org/cs/articles?article=ron_pauls_abortion_rhetoric) and minorities(http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul188.html).
I'm glad the media is ignoring him. I only wish they'd also ignore the other obvious crazies put forth by the republican party as well.

2. First, they came for Ron Paul, but I wasn't Ron Paul, so I didn't speak up.

3. His intent to eliminate the Federal reserve seems radical and dangerous, to say the least.
I'm no economist, but letting the dollar and interest rates regulate themselves is a notion that can't possibly work out. Can it? Certainly no other country this side of Zimbabwe does it.

Add to that his threat to end the EPA, Dept of Education, and every other alphabet program run by the federal government, and I think he needs ignored just on the basis that he longs for a country that can't survive his own term.

It sounds like he want to get elected to the White House, then spend four years saying "We don't do that anymore" while he rides around on Air Force One having a good time.

4. Maybe his crazy ideas belonged to him first?
Bachmannn, Palin, Perry want to get rid of affirmative action, entitlements, the EPA and department of Education too. Why aren't they ignored as well?

The whole effort to do away with a woman's right to choose by attacking it at the state level was also something Ron Paul advocated for, saying he didn't think we needed a federal ban on abortions but should leave (encourage) states to tackle that on their own.

The tea party crazies have grown out of libertarian ideas.

6. True he may have been the progenitor of non-existent government
But I notice most pundits don't take him seriously, claiming that he only throws his hat in the ring every four years to get his message out. Since these media types are more savvy than myself, and considering that he always bows out before the money round, perhaps they're on to something. Certainly he differs with the pack on foreign policy though.

Sometimes I think these small government Republicans view the presidency akin to a job running a buggy whip store where the daily game of checkers and selling an occasional pack of gum is a typical busy day. Let the states figure everything else out on their own is not policy, it's irresponsible.

I remember in 2004 when GW Bush was asked how he intended to balance the books after his second round of tax cuts. His answer was in effect that he would "let the states govern themselves". This really lit up the libertarian ears, but the reality was that he severely cut federal spending that was sent to the states. The result was that within one year 47 states had declared themselves bankrupt and had to hand the tax liability down to local municipalities in the form of piggy back sales taxes and increased property taxes. Another "mission accomplished".
