White House Political Advisors Have Goofed Big TIME.
In a year when the country is feeling raw emotion
to the point of anger, they send the President
on a listening tour. He is to act and be all
ethereal --you know, the master of zen, the most
rational person in the room. Instead of going
after the Republicans in full-throat attack, once
again has to criticize the Democrats--they are
not being reasonable on Medicare--they tell him
not to touch Medicare. Yes, he did criticize Congress.
They will not let him hit the Republicans. He
is to reain serenely floating around in space.

Third Way and DLC, come in to Planet Earth.
This is a year when Passion Trumps everything.
Why did the GOP bring in Perry???

WH Advisors, you have stood there and watched
his poll numbers drop and 39% was not very pretty.
The lower his poll numbers went the more he
used RW talking points. Whether his advisors
even know, the Democratic Party has always
been seen as the Protector of the Safety Net.
Throw this out and you successfully destroy
the Democratic Party. Why over the years
in Poll after poll do Democrats always win on
the party most trusted with SS Health Care
Medicare???? It was Democratic who gave the
country these things. DLC and THIRD WAY,
you are not the American People and it is
beginning to look as if you do not even undersrtand
them.

Before, all is lost, you had better Let Obama
be Obama. Obama, you are going to have to
override your "advisors".

Zen is not in.

3. Override his advisors?
Would that REALLY be in keeping with a man who takes advice from Tim Geithner, Robert Gates, and Larry Summers? The "surely the leader would do differently if he knew" excuse is not going to work, because the leader WANTS this kind of advice.

4. Why do people not realize this?
I have not yeat seen anyone who falls on the apologist end of the spectrum actually respond when I point this out.

They love to say "Oh, it's the Senate or the House. The president really does want liberal policies but you know.....can't do anything about it. System's broke!"

But when I point out that he chose people like Geithner, Gates, Summers, Arne Duncan, Rahm Emmanuel, Daley and keeping on Bernake. Nobody forced them on him. He stocked his cabinet with these people, knowing full well what their approaches were and what their favored policies were.

If he had a cabinet and a staff full of liberals and nothing was getting done because of the Senate or the House, then I'd buy that he really wants one thing but Congress won't let him. But given one look at the people that have his ear, anyone buying the notion that he's even slightly left of center is a naive fool.

14. I agree with you - the system is not broken. Capitalism is working
just fine for the very wealthy. Unfortunately Obama has decided he would rather work for them instead of us. Anyone who thinks differently is incredibly naive or has something to gain financially by supporting him.

5. Obama is being Obama. Haven't you had enough?
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 08:06 AM by anamandujano
Any positives he may talk about in his time and money wasting campaigning will ring hollow cause we heard it all before.

He already said he didn't care if he got re-elected. Why not step aside and let someone give us some new lies that we might believe in. Yeah, new lies, because no one ever gets way up there without being on strings pulled by the masters of the planet.

8. I think what has happened is that Obama is already being Obama.
There is no evidence that it is his advisers who are driving him to compromise.

10. Bingo
It's almost insulting to suggest he can be quite that ineffective. The vast majority of what he is doing is almost assuredly "of his own desire".

11. His goal is to Peak on Election day.
The repuke primary candidates are all trying to out-crazy each other. Most of the country think they're batshit insane.
Obama will turn up the heat slowly over the next year.
I know I'd love him to go straight to whoop-ass-can-opening mode but it's way too early for that.
JMHO.
