Have a database of sorts that shows the threats they receive on a daily basis. This would of course, lead to some RW whacko's sending stuff to other RW whacko's just to make sure they beat the left when it comes to who gets more threats.

2. I would love to live in a country where disagreements were solved by discussion.
Instead, I live in one of the most politically violent nations on Earth, where assassination of one's political enemies is a fact of life.

3. This would make for all sorts of fun for the crackpots.
"Dear Congressperson, if you don't pay off your gambling debts... stop having sex with my 15 year old daughter... vote for that legislation you promised you would after I hired your son, I'm going to break your legs." I'm sure congresspeople will be thrilled to have to make that information public.

5. It would certainly create transparency, wouldn't it?
We all know there's a database of this crap stored up somewhere. What would be the harm in making it public, it can't be any worse than what WikiLeaks is doing with the cables.

6. The problem is that if you have to publish the letter
any crackpot can make any unverifiable claim which becomes part of the official public record. It would be a field day for the tabloids.

7. Again, I say, not much different than the recent WikiLeak cables. (eom)

8. You're right.
Since we don't really know where any of the information comes from, it's really is no different.
