Help! Time Warner is buying our local cable provider. Should
I be concerned with cost and content? I've heard little about how they operate.

What has been your experience?

1. Service is pretty rock solid here, and that's an important factor for me. Cost is more than I'd like

first level tech support is useless, content is pretty darn good here (IMHO) and they're pretty good at adding new services/channels.

Oh, the hardware sucks here. They refurb old crappy cable boxes.

My only other choice is AT&T, with whom I will NEVER do business, or a dish (service not solid enough for me).

2. Comcast bought our city-owned cable company.
We switched to DirecTV shortly after that. Service was lousy from CC and we are prejudiced against them anyway. Can't say that it is a bargain, but we have been very happy with DTV.

3. I HATE Time Warner
planning to switch to Directv in Milwaukee area upon my return from Michigan.

Direct has more of what I want at a better price. The rain or snow interruptions appear to be the same, given my experience with Direct at a seasonal residence. in Michigan.
TW has many of the same interruptions now and then in Milwaukee.

TW has a much more inferior customer service compared to what I have had in Michigan with Direct.

TW does have some likable features via replays of major shows on demand -- but I choose Direct. Also I choose it over Dish, given my comparisons between Direct and Dish between my next door sister on Dish and me in Michigan.

Good luck.

7. I have basic Time/Warner, it's OK
I really have no complaints not like what I've heard about some other cable companies. I'm hoping to move in year or so and I will go with them again. I've had less problems with them than I did with Dish Network.

8. Switch to Direct TV
You'll get SO much more for your money, plus the sports package options make it awesome. Dump Cable!

9. There were some things they didn't offer until you go
top dollar. In the end, it was more expensive than cable.

10. Up here in Maine,...
...my family and I haven't had cable for the past 2+ years. We have TWC wireless internet and get our TV via Netflix on our Wii.

Not even our 11 year old son misses the cable.

PEACE!

11. You have Insight Communications, owned by Carlyle Group, Crestview Partners and MidOcean Partners?
Being owned by a communications company should be as good as being owned by private equity funds.

to know what it is doing.
