3 years for DeLay? Is it enough?
It's unfortunate that Tom DeLay isn't subject to 'poetic' justice...

1. At the most, he will serve 6 months and be back on the streets quickly
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 10:42 AM by lldu
I think he is eligible for parole after 1/6th of his sentence.

2. That criminal got to post bond while the sentence is appealed
he will be out on parole for a long time and may never see a night in jail.

NO! IT IS NOT ENOUGH!

5. Sentence doesn't matter
He'll never serve a day. And soon he will be on all the talk shows and have a book deal.

6. He won't serve a single day as long as Rick Perry is governor
and Perry will pardon him.

7. A life sentence wouldn't be enough for that rat bastard.
He'll probably weasel his way out of his sentence somehow.

8. I think the important thing is that he got sentenced at all. It leaves
a message to all the other criminal politicians of his ilk, that
they can get away with it for a long time, but in the end there
is a good chance of their being caught, tried, and sentenced.

Of course these sociopaths don't experience any shame. But some
deterrent is better than none.

9. It is if he actually serves it
Right now I have my doubts he will spend a day in prison.

10. It is possible he'll never see a day...
They can stretch this appeals process out for years, all the while he remains free. The appeals court is all Republicans. Delay has a very good lawyer that will argue that the Citizens United decision of the USSC should come into play here and that the conviction should be vacated.

I don't know what the intrade odds are on him ever seeing a day in prison, but I'd say it was at best even.
