Ann Coulter to Serve as Honorary Chair of GOProud’s Advisory Council
Christopher R. Barron, Chairman of the GOProud Board – “Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership.”
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Ann Coulter was joining the organization’s Advisory Council as Honorary Chair. Coulter’s official title will be “Gay Icon.” “Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”
“I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the Queen of Fabulous,” said Coulter.
Coulter joins Margaret Hoover, Grover Norquist, Andrew Breitbart, Liz Mair, Chuck Muth, Lisa De Pasquale, Christian Josi, Roger Stone, Andrew Langer, Kathryn Serkes and Bob Carlstrom on the GOProud Advisory Council.

GOProud says conservative columnist Ann Coulter will carry the title of "Honorary Chair and Gay Icon" of its Advisory Council. Saying Coulter "helped put our organization on the map," GOProud chairman Christopher Barron boasts: "Politics is full of the meek, the compromising, and the apologists -- Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things."
Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel Action tells OneNewsNow that he has had a good deal of respect for Coulter in the past. "(But) unfortunately I think she really is putting herself in a position here where she could marginalize herself and do damage to her conservative credentials, if you will," he offers.
Coulter joining forces even in an advisory capacity surprises Barber because of the nature of the organization.
"GOProud, of course, is a radical, pro-homosexual, activist organization, a socio-liberal organization that is libertarian in some of their policies in support of some conservative and libertarian policies," he explains, "but certainly they are socio-liberal."

~snip~
Vitagliano: Ann Coulter is hard to read but if you're a Christian, I think you should take more care to tailor your commitments in things like this to your Christian views. I don't know whether she just hasn't thought this through or what, but this is kind of disappointing to me.
This is not an issue, I don't think, that you clown around with. This is a very serious issue. I know she likes to laugh, she likes to have fun with her politics, but this is not an issue that you clown around with. It has serious real-world repercussions.
Jackson: I think it begs the questions then Buster: how must Ann Coulter feel about the authority of Scripture? How can you join a group like this and allowed to be called the honorary chair and gay icon of the group and still feel comfortable calling yourself an evangelical Christian? There's a gap there in the reasoning.
Wilson: I don't know. It raises a huge red flag for me. The Bible has got to be the standard and it's not.

"Ann Coulter is not a serious part of the conservative movement -- her positions are a throwback and do more harm than anything else. Her remarks endorsing the widely outdated and profoundly harmful idea of 'reparative therapy,' alleging that one can 'pray the gay away,' are not only demeaning to gays and lesbians, but are offensive to all people of faith. ...
