SCRAPS: Top ten reasons to adopt a black cat
SCRAPS: Top ten reasons to adopt a black cat

The top ten reasons to adopt a black cat, according to the news release:

1. We are always sleek, stylish and elegant.

2. You’ll never lose us in a snowstorm.

3. Black fur won’t show up on your (chic) black clothing.

4. Statistically speaking, we are friendlier than other cats.

5. We are happier because we look thinner!

6. In many cultures, black cats are good luck.

7. We can be slimming when draped over your lap.

8. We can easily accessorize our collars because everything goes well with black.

9. We are always appropriately dressed at cocktail parties.

10. We take the longest to get adopted and need your help the most!

2. A no-kill shelter that my wife and I volunteered for suspended adoptions of black cats each October.
Don't ask why.

6. All true - I love my black kitties.
. . . and my other, gigantic furball, too (of course).

I think I'd argue with sleek for my black kitty, though. His appetite has . . . er . . . somewhat widened his profile . . .

:)

7. At one point, I had a black cat, a gray cat, a white dog and a brown dog, so
whatever I wore had always some pet hair proudly displayed. All were rescues, of course. :)

8. I love black kitties
A few years ago, the local SPCA had these two big burly black kitties that I would have taken right then and there if I could-- Romeo and Casanova. They lived up to their names.

10. Yep. When I was doing pet rescue the black cats and dogs were the last to get adopted
and millions are killed at animal control every year. Statistically they are indeed friendlier, though why is anybody's guess!

13. Our gorgeous, wonderful Jack appeared at our doorstep crying to come in, almost 4 years ago.
Edited on Thu Aug-11-11 12:37 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
He was about 5. I advertised all over to find his humans and no one ever stepped forward. I have a feeling that his humans had to move and couldn't take him with them and left him to fend for himself. Their loss was our more than fortunate gain. He joined our other 2 kitties (Amy a grey tabby and Charlie a ginger tabby cat) and now we have a fabulous trio. :)

14. We always take in a black kitties.
Our Thomas came to us as a feral kitten two years ago, he's our biggest kitty, all twenty-one pounds of him...he looks like a miniature jaguar, and is just a big sweetie.

We have always had and adopted black kitties.

24. Ha! One of my best friends always had a black cat named Mink growing up
Once one Mink would grow old and pass away she was always replaced with another female black cat named Mink. He loved them all.

23. I have a beautiful black grand-kitteh.
She has such a great personality. She's discerning when it comes to sharing her affection but when she decides you're okay she's a snuggle bug. I love black cats.
