What Happened To The Wall To Wall Media Blizzard of These 2010 News Stories?
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 06:15 AM by Poll_Blind
From AllVoices.

Park 51, the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque", the Israeli attack on the flotilla delivering humanitarian aid, the situation in Haiti after the earthquake that devastated so much of it last year...

Author Veronica Roberts asks a question I find myself asking myself months or even sometimes years after some news stories: "Whatever happened to...?" I originally pulled up this list looking to find out what happened about the Kyron Horman case, where the little boy went missing from his Portland area school.

But after looking over the list of news stories, most of which dominated the media at one time or another over the last year, I'm reminded our current media flits from topic to topic- and can fill the airwaves or the headlines with particular stories- but doesn't really seem to care about the outcome of some of these, just the sensationalism of the moment.

In 2011, I guarantee that certain sensational stories will dominate the news for brief periods of time- just like they did in 2010. But I also find it interesting that in late 2011 or early in 2012, someone will be asking "Hey, whatever happened about that?"

That the question itself has to be asked shows that the media isn't doing its job but serving the fleeting attention span of the moment.

4. Exactly! Amazing how much stuff just...drops off the radar. Critically important things.
There was a time on DU, I can't remember exactly when it was at the moment, when people started to comment on how little coverage Iraq/Afghanistan were receiving. It's like the media just...looked....the...other....way...

It's freakish how little coverage is received now.

5. We never found the missing $2.3 Trillion announced 9/10/01 either
The first question I ask when there's a new manufactured outrage like Park 51 is, what story are they burying?

7. Yeah, I still think about that one too. Just the stories about graft UP TO Sep 11th could....
...fill a decent-sized book. From election night on, I was hyper aware of most stories involving Bush and especially after he was elected. I look at the last 8 years of Bush and the last 2 of Obama and I just see like the most incredible fraud perpetrated on all of America. I think about ALL (the ones I can remember anyway) little news stories, especially during the Bush years but also in regards to the stock market bailout, etc., and the number of things just swept under the rug are astounding.

Astounding is just...not strong enough a word, really.

2. Uh the "ACLJ" has filed suit to stop the GZM
And who is the ACLJ?

The ACLJ is an organization dedicated to the defense of constitutional liberties secured by law.

Now you know. When it needs to be thrust into the media, the flame is burning, and the hypocritical Right is waiting....

3. Down the Memory Hole. Don't worry, though, the RW Lie Machine will rewrite
and refresh yesterday's history, as needed, without any of those troublesome Lberal facts.

The Corporate Media will uncritically pick it up and echo it because everyone knows that all conservatives are honest and all liberals lying and evil.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
