11. This is my point. . .as crazy as so many of the Right's public

pronouncements are, why do they keep running away from association with the killings in Tucson?

I mean, what exactly did this young man do that is contrary to what the Right has been preaching non-stop these last few years? Is the Right now trying to say that all of their violence rhetoric, their if-we-don't-win-at-the-ballot-we'll-win-with-bullets pronouncements, their second amendment remedies. . .is nothing but hot air? That they would never seriously really advocate actually killing anyone, so they've really just been talkin' sh*t to intimidate?

Oh, I believe conservatives are pissed off and they are scared after this incident. But I find it amazing that they go on the offense with the "he's a nutjob" line when they continue to put nutjobs on the broadcasting airwaves advocating the same kind of violence. So the accused killer is mentally disturbed - and the rest of the Right isn't?

Malkin really doesn't want to go there - there is such a long hit parade of rightwing looney tunes out there that her "primer" would look like a pamphlet compared to an encyclopedia if she wants to declare notes.

This is the long-standing framing for all conservative rhetoric. It excuses them losing their cool, or talking over others in conversation, or becoming physically violent, and, especially, never having to rein themselves in. The liberals, on the other hand, are envisioned as oppressors, hence always secure in their safety, and so able and required to tone it down. Conservatives envision themselves as calm and rational people who are constantly pushed to their limits, and so not responsible for their own behavior.

The trouble is that the MSM enforce this framing, and never address its verity.
