This Modern World: Don't go blaming guns-The Shooter Could Have Used... Lawn Furniture
The shooter in Tucson could just as easily have used something else -- like, maybe, lawn furniture

2. If the events of this past Saturday weren't so horrific, this might be funny.
America's obsession with firearms is a national mental illness, fueled by corporate propaganda, lies, and media-induced fear with no basis in reality.

4. I am amazed at the pro gun rhetoric.

Here is a copy of a pew poll from just a few weeks ago.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/144887/Continuing-Record-Low-Support-Stricter-Gun-Control.aspx
One thing that seems clear from the actual numbers, those wanting more gun control have consistently outnumbered the gun advocates for decades. The out come of course has been a constant relaxing of gun laws. This is just another example of how democracy is being subverted because someone is profiting from the absence of democratic process that would give the people what they actually want.

10. That poll says the opposite of what you believe it does.
A substantial majority want to see either current laws kept, or less strict laws adopted. And what you don't mention is that only a tiny part of the public, less than 20%, supports SERIOUS restrictions on guns such as the type some DUers are suggesting. Last but not least, for those who don't remember 1994, gun control as an issue is electoral poison. No one who supports it can win outside heavily urban districts.

13. Except the new republican governor of Ohio
who voted for the AWB and beat a pro gun Democrat.

If you look at any election map, those urban voters have swung ever national election that has been won by Democrats, so you want to dump those loyal Democrats so a few rural voters that are going to vote Republican won't have as much to bitch about? You may want to remember 1994, but don't forget 2010 Ohio.

15. so for over two decades gun laws have become less restrictive
and people who want more restrictive laws vastly outnumber those who want less restrictive laws. Yet you think your side has public sentiment because many people basically have no opinion. Don't bothe with logic when baseless claims can be made.

16. that's an odd way of looking at the chart
A much larger majority wants to see either current laws kept or MORE strict laws adopted. Only a tiny minority wants the laws liberalized.

Further, this is the kind of issue where the opinions measured depend greatly on (a) the exact wording of the question and response choices and (b) the timing of the poll.
