11. I have to agree with this
First, we have no idea if Gabby will even be able to return to office. Trust me, if she needs it in 2012 I'll find the money for her then.

But her husband has asked donations go to Red Cross, I think money donated is best served there!

16. I'd agree with this too. Whatever your personal feelings towards the Red Cross,

if this is what her husband wants I would go with it. Sadly we may not have her back in Congress, we have no idea the extent of her injuries.

4. I'm terribly sorry she got shot but I don't agree with her enough to donate to her campaign
a few months after the election.

Maybe in a general but she isn't someone I'd have any likelihood of supporting in a primary. Possible but not likely.

I have no problem with scraping up a donation to charity in her name but I disagree with using evil fortune to prop up a conservative.

8. She voted for healthcare

Me, I give blood to the Red Cross. I won't give them cash. To many oops they have made like the Katrina funds fiasco. And they have been sticking it to their employees in several cities.

In a conservative state it takes a conservative to get elected. See Ben Nelson. He votes the least with our party in the Senate. By far better than letting a true conservative win.

9. I don't support the Wealthcare and Profit Protection Act and my money is tight
I'm not supporting a conservative in any primary, in any state. I'm in Kentucky and jimmy crack corn. I'm not sending my few dollars across the country to support "the lesser of two evils" in a primary almost two years away motivated by sympathy when she may never run again or may draw a better candidate in that primary.

5. Rep Gabrielle Giffords - with a full recovery - will move to higher office than Congress
Popular in Arizona, she could run for Senate or be a great Veep candidate in 2016.

6. Unfortunately, she may have to give up her seat.
I don't mean to sound negative, but we need to be realistic. Rep Giffords has a LONG road of recovery ahead of her. Months at a minimum according to the docs. She may not regain all of her prior abilities like speech and cognitive function. This maniac may not have killed her, but he very well could have taken away her career.

:(

17. I was thinking the same thing, I'm skeptical as well
For her to recover to the point that she could again serve in Congress, let alone run again would require the best case scenario. I would be shocked if she is released from a medical care facility completely within the next year. She will probably need extensive physical therapy once she is released from the hospital and constant monitoring by medical staff. For her to get that kind of care will require her to be in some type of a physical rehabilitation center for a long period of time.

Keep in mind, surgeons had to cut off part of her skull to address issues of swelling which could still flare up. We don't know what her speech function, motor skills or any other physical abilities will be and likely won't know for months.

While I wish her a full recovery and a happy life, we must be realistic in our expectations of her recovery.

She is still and will remain a Congresswoman for the balance of the two years, but we'll have to wait and see what happens as time goes on in terms of her recovery and what she wants to do.

13. supporter of abortion rights, stem-cell research and other social issues favored by more liberal Dem

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-10/giffords-is-centrist-who-defies-political-labels-correct-.html

Yet, like Pelosi, one-time Republican Giffords, 40, is a supporter of abortion rights, stem-cell research and other social issues favored by more liberal Democrats. She voted last month to overturn the Defense Department’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” ban on gays serving openly in the military. She voted for the health-care legislation last year that was Pelosi’s crowning legislative achievement as speaker.
