Saylor family settles suit with Toyota
Toyota Motor Corp. and the family of the late CHP Officer Mark Saylor have settled a lawsuit stemming from a fiery car crash in Santee last summer that put the international spotlight on the issue of unintended acceleration, it was announced late Friday.

The deal does not free Bob Baker Lexus in El Cajon, which loaned the vehicle to Saylor, from a separate accusation that it installed the wrong floor mat in the sedan. Legal experts said it is rare for a car manufacturer to split ranks with one of its dealerships in litigation matters.

Representatives for Toyota and Saylor’s relatives said details of the settlement are being kept confidential, but that both sides are satisfied with the outcome.

1. Looks like the large foreign corporation was protected, expected as much.
