Just about anything you want. Most of the ammo is self loaded. There are no background checks whatsoever. I don't own any guns, but if I wanted to buy one, it would be so easy. I truly don't know how to stop or control the gun trade, or if you could legally.
Even if there were a total ban, as there is on marijuana, there would be a thriving illicit market. America is a gun country.

There were earlier posts about Loughner buying ammo and background checks........
Buying guns is very easy. No checks needed.

4. Yet most guns used in crim are not bought at gun shows
In fact the percent of guns used at gunshows at 2%. Despite it being legal, it is nowhere near as commonplace as people would want us to believe.

5. keep saying that
and maybe someone will believe it. Tell me, how many guns were sold at gun shows last year? Now tell me how many were used in a crime? you can't, most gun show sells aren't recorded. Keep making up those numbers though, I like watching the squirming.

8. I'm not making them up.
The department of justice is publishing the numbers.

And, yes, most gun show sales are not recoreded, but that doesn't mean it can't be tracked. If I buy a gun, and fill out a background check, that gun can be tracked to me. If that gun is used in a crime, then they will track it back to me, and ask me what I did with it. If I told them I sold it at a gunshow, they can't prove who bought it, but they can at least say that is was sold at a gunshow. Yet the vast vast majority of crimes do not happen with guns at gun shows.

I realize all the gun threads are due to the shooting last week, lets not forget that this person was legally able to buy a gun.

10. Well I will trust department of justice.
The vast majority either obtained one from friend/family or purchased an illegal gun from street (there are an estimated 200 million street guns in circulation).

7. nope
not at all, anyone can buy a gun at a gun show in most states. I bought one a few months back in Idaho no questions asked. It really is a bad and dangerous system.

9. If its such a dangerous system, why did you buy one
The fact is, you are a law abiding citizen (I would assume) and you legally bought a gun. I see nothing wrong with that. You make it sound as if even if private sales at gun shows were banned it would solve anything. Criminals would still steal guns, make straw purchases, etc. And the federal government has no right to get involved with a private sale between two citizens of the same state. Its a state issue.
