PELOSI: on Repubs: "Dismantling The Public Sphere Is Their Endgame"
PELOSI... She also waved off discussion about the construction of the new supercommittee, tasked with finding another $1.5 trillion in savings. “It is a victory for (Republicans) if we spend a lot of time focusing on the who, what, when, where of this commission,” she said. But she admitted exasperation with it, noting that she had heard it described as a “characterization of food, but not at the beginning of the digestive process.”

................

When talking about how to defeat Republicans in 2012, Pelosi depicted them as chaotic and destructive. "Why don't they want to create jobs? Is it because they want the president to fail? I'm not going to go into that," she said. Dismantling the "public sphere" is their endgame, and they will "use the engine of deficit reduction as an excuse to destroy" it, she warned. "We cannot let them do that."

She described herself as ready for that fight, for jobs and growth. Congress, she said, is always contentious. "They used to cane each other and have duels! The Speaker of the House Henry Clay was in at least one duel!"

1. And what's our response? Our president's response?
We make a few comments, then sit back. The End.

2. By simply saying they want the President to fail, just gives the
Republicans more leverage.

Until we make the vast swath of Americans understand that
this new Republican Party does not believe it is the
government's role to do anything about jobs except
to deregulate and cut taxes; the Republicans keep the
upper hand. The people have to understand how Free
Market Fundamentalism has failed. Not one Democrat
on the Hill nor the President has made this case and
repeated it enough to make it stick.

Just saying they want the President to fail will not
phase many Americans. This sounds cruel and it hurts
me to say it, but we must face the realities. Believe
me, it hurts me but our time is running out.

Consistently affirming Republican Policies only helps
Republicans in the long run.

4. Oh, great. Now she's "read for that fight" after she caved and voted for the bill.
Fight with what. More promises? More concessions? More caves?

5. Pelosi and Reid MUST be removed as leaders of the Dems in Congress
They are presiding over a historic failure of Democrats and they should be held accountable. I could give a rat's ass about Pelosi's statements at this point. She needs to go and other Dems need to know that they perform or they lose the job as leader. Period!

10. Why would they be delighted?
They have been beating Pelosi and Reid like rented mules for the last few years. Why would they want to face down a Democrat ready and willing to get extreme in any political fight when they can keep winning with these two.

11. Reid yes. But they haven't been beating Peosi. She is in an untenable position now.

She is leader of the minority party in a House that is not yielding an inch. Plus she is trying to support the democratic WH, which is too often undercutting her also.

When she had a majlority in the House, she got a lot of good progressive bills through. The problem is that the WH and the Senate were doing the opposite.

Let's just say, for example, the Health Care Bill would probably have looked a lot different -- and better -- if it reflected what Pelosi was pushing for rather than the junk forced through by the Senate and WH.

Can you whisper that into the President's ear?
