110% RepubliCONS fault
Our credit downgrade. Seems like common sense to add revenue into the mix, ya know, to let people know we're serious about ACTUALLY paying our deficits back! We really can't blame the S&P, but we can easily blame the reptilian GOP. Who would have thought, tax cuts for the rich + zero revenue=DOWNGRADE. Well, everyone except apparently the GOP. Another failed GOP ideology down the drain.

2. If we added revenue to the mix then we could actually point to a year when we would become debt free
All we did was promise no more spending. We didn't make a promise to pay the debt back. Therefore: DOWNGRADE. Hopefully we don't lose the message on this one.

5. I hear ya loud and clear.
This is similar to expecting your unemployed friend to pay you back without a paycheck. If we DID actually collect more revenue it would set a good example. But Americans are masochists and voted for this scenario in 2010.

3. Absolutely, but good luck convincing that to the masses
I just left a college football site. There is a massive OT thread on the subject blaming Obama.

6. Damn right. Pres. Obama backed 4 trillion in cuts and revenue that would have avoided this.

8. All he backed was a non-default
Which he was successful at. But what the GOP TERRORISTS brought to the table was another failed ideology.
