1. These numbers "are a long way from recession territory."
Ian Shepherdson, an economist at High Frequency Economics, in a note to clients about these numbers: "they are a long way from recession territory."

Thanks for the FACTS and the great graph which really spells everything out, tabatha.

2. i don't like it
they shouldn't be patting themselves on the back. This is an emergency. They should be screaming that it's not nearly enough, and they should be working their asses off to make it better.

7. Who the fuck are "They"?. The President is working his ass off to create jobs.
But he is getting only resistance from the republican led House. Instead of talking about primarying President Obama, maybe people of your ilk (ie, extreme Left) should discuss ways of how all of us can eliminate republicans from the House and increase the number of democrats in the Senate. The whole F'ing world will be better off if the last set of changes happen.

8. Extreme Progressives are going to remain silent on the slight improvement in joblessness.
They seemed to have wanted to see numbers like 9.4 and 9.6%. I, for the life of me can't understand why people that claim to care about the common person would want something like that to happen. Just sounds so Freeperish.

9. but....but.......but.........
It doesn't look like a bikini to me anymore

and the numbers say 154,000 but to me the graph appears to have that bar below the 150,000 mark

I would like to see that graph going back in time further to the beginning of the Bush administration so we can see how they were good when he got into office but fell off into disaster land by the time he left

10. Could have been worse.
But as you can see, this rate of adding jobs is way too slow to make up for the job losses of the recession.

12. This was terrible period the net is 117K it takes 150K to absorb
new entrants to the workforce like graduates. There are fewer people working now than is 2000. The unemployment rate fell, not because anyone found a job but because more people gave up looking since there are no jobs.

The participation rate fell to 63.9%, the lowest since the early 80s.
