20. Where Else Are You Gonna Go?
Markets suck. Real estate sucks. Bonds suck. Treasuries suck. Savings/CDs are money losers.

Give me the metals.

8. Your retirement plan must not have been vested.
Ours are and vesting was mandatory. Part of the plan is stuck in stocks and cannot be retrieved.

2. I pulled my money out of mine when I lost my job
I had already lost a significant portion of it...and since the opportunity arose, I went with it.

To me, it should be CRIMINAL to tie up retirement money in the stock market, but I sincerely hope folks that are already hurting don't take another hit.

3. Well put.
And even if you don't have a 401K, you'll tank anyway. Just like when Wall Street got into trouble.

21. Early 2009 actually, but I didn't have a choice.
My 401K was tied to the job that I didn't have anymore after the end of 2008. But I did manage to stall long enough that it recovered a little.

10. You know, it's not like people weren't warned of this economic chaos
over the past few years. Anyone who has their money at risk or in a bank account is doing just that...taking a risk. And sometimes risk has a way of making you a loser.

17. I keep saying to myself, if it were possible that we could elect enough progressives
in all branches of government we could turn everything around. But I guess that will never happen. I have seen the enemy and it is us!

14. BTDT. Saw my TIAA-CREF go down in the last meltdown.
Glad I have several defined-benefit pensions and not just TIAA-CREF. They'll be good until all the state governments go belly up.
