Letter: Debt compromise will create jobs -- right?

What a relief to know the wall of protection surrounding the wealthy “Job Creators” will be strengthened by the passage of the new debt reduction bill. Certainly they’ve been clutching their trillions of dollars in profits for fear of having a fraction ripped away by a president with a spending problem. With their fears laid to rest, we should see unemployment plummet as they invest that money, putting everybody back to work. Let the recovery begin!

They’re going to create jobs. That’s the agreement, right?

Allow me to suggest that as long as the hoards of middle-class consumers who create jobs by consuming goods and services are forced to spend more and more of their income at the gas pump, grocery store, on higher health insurance costs, bank fees, and everything else that has become more expensive while their wages have dropped, we don’t have a need for many more workers right now.

I don’t have the answer, and the embarrassing antics in Washington lately lead me to believe that they don’t have the answer either.
We’ll leave that to the Super Committee. They’ll have the answers.
