FAA debacle is getting top coverage on MSNBC and CNN - hopefully
the rest of the networks will get it out there, too (sans Fox, natch).

1. Isn't there a bill that the Senate hasn't voted on?

4. Not sure exactly how this happened, whether or not it had
failed at some point before or if something just failed or if they just didn't give a damn.

Here's some info:

5. nbc showed boehner saying democrats were to blame...the house sent up a bill & dems didn't sign it
not how it works, john

of course nbc didn't inform you of that, nor did they have anyone from the democratic party to dispute it.

6. That is not what NBC had.
A bill was sent to the Senate. The Senate has not voted on it up or down or change it in someway. That is how it works. Vote on it and send it to conference to work out any changes. Just like every other bill.

8. So they just didn't bother to vote on it at all, or was there a problem
or what? I'm trying to understand what happened.

9. They did not vote on it.
I think that was a mistake. They should have voted the bill down if they did not like the language or made amendments to it. If it was amended they could try and work it out in a conference committee. That is what they do with most bills.

7. Do you know what happened? I just assumed the Republicans
voted something down -- seriously?

I just went looking but can't find any specifics of what brought this about, just the revenue and jobs that are being affected.

Boehner fries me.

I saw a snip of Obama and he seemed pretty pissed, too (another reason why I assumed it was the Republicans).

11. The House bill has two provisions that some Democrats do not like.
The House bill wants to end subsidies to airlines which service small airports. I think this is proper because it is a form of corporate welfare and should be ended. There is another provision which says airline workers need to have a majority of those working there to have a union (instead of just a majority of those voting). I don't like that but I don't know if that should be enough to kill the bill. Yesterday the White House told the Senate to accept the bill. Reid initially said OK but then changed his mind and went on recess.

13. Thanks that helps a lot! Why on earth would Reid do that?
VERY disappointing - Obama's got to be pissed, don't you think?

And he is not the only one.

10. Diane Rehm did her first hour on it today.
She replayed a call from yesterday's show from a woman who is laid off because of it.

That woman was ticked off.

12. ABC World News covered only the small airport part of the story. No mention of Delta/unions.
Disgusting!
