New 35W bridge memorial vandalized
This just breaks my heart.

Minneapolis, Minn. — The new 35W bridge memorial has been vandalized, just a couple of days after its dedication.

The memorial's architect, Tom Oslund, says about two dozen letters were pulled from the stone face of the memorial. He noticed the apparent vandalism Wednesday morning when he visited the site.

Oslund did not call police. However, city officials say police are investigating the incident, which they say must have occurred sometime between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

The memorial was dedicated earlier this week on the 4th anniversary of the 35W bridge collapse, which killed 13 people and injured more than 100.

2. What would be the point of doing that? Just to tear up something?

4. Where has respect gone?
It's as if people are envious of anything decent. I take my dogs to a dog park and not only has the lock been broken but someone also rammed the chain link fence with a vehicle.

6. It was those freaking zombies. They've been all over the place
lately, you know. Nothing is sacred to them, it seems. But, then, they're dead, so...

7. Letters pulled from the memorial? Might not be vandals -
Might be scavengers looking for metal - especially if the letters were brass, stainless, or aluminum. They probably figure the letters will be replaced, but in the mean time, depending on how large the letters were, someone got around $50 to $100 for a half hour's work...

Sad statement on the economy, but that does happen if something shiny is within reach.
