Analysis finds PA state legislation copied & pasted from D.C. Conservative Group
HARRISBURG -- When it comes to state legislation, a liberal advocacy group says imitation isn't a form of flattery but rather a sneaky way for outside groups to write their own rules.

An analysis released Tuesday from Keystone Progress points to four Pennsylvania measures that they say are nearly identical to model legislation peddled by the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council.

The right-leaning association of state legislators has drawn national attention recently for reports that its model bills are being duplicated in statehouses across the country, and it has been criticized for the influence industry representatives are said to have in the drafting of that model legislation. It has also taken flack for its annual conferences, which lawmakers can attend free of charge and learn about model policies.

While several state lawmakers -- including Cranberry Republican Rep. Daryl Metcalfe -- have attended those conferences and reported the expense-paid trip on their ethics forms, it was the mirror-image legislation that drew much of the criticism from liberal detractors.

1. "right-leaning" ????
Mealy-mouthed so-called journalists who are too chickenshit to tell the truth should be tarred and feathered.

Makes me sad my home state of PA is being victimized by these Puke assholes and their gameplan. Of course - the people put them in office; the people of PA are now sorely regretting electing a Puke governor. He's dismantling everything and if successsful, will sell off the PA Game Lands to private investors.

3. It's even worse for those of us who are stuck here.
Frackers everywhere, coal mine damage from years ago which is still a huge problem, developers paving everything possible,....it is stomach turning to witness this destruction.

For the most part, we are at the mercy of industry and the state repubes. Big Ed wasn't my favorite politician, but he was 100% better than the cabal which controls the state now.

On the bright side, a lot of us are very stubborn and refuse to go down without a fight. We're seeing more young people pursuing environmental careers also so that's encouraging.

If you haven't seen it before, this link will depress anyone who cares about the environment. These photos aren't from 40 years ago, this acid mine drainage is still happening. Just as we were starting to see some major changes due to AMD remediation, here come the blanking frackers and their political friends.

Just one example:

Many more here I'm sad to say.
