2. I can imagine two different scenarios here
1) the press has been hounding them agressively, possibly even trying to gain illegal entry

or

2) something about apples and trees

21. Or, 3)
3) They're embarrassed/ashamed as hell that their son did what he did. I know I would be. If that was my kid, I would want to hide, too.

32. People handle stressful situations differently.
Everyone acts differently when they're scared shitless. I have little doubt these people are just that. Not defending them or anything, as I have no idea what are their motives. Just sayin.

37. I can pretty much guarantee you, the FBI got a federal search warrant on
the suspect's residence about 5 minutes after they bagged him. And having searched, they probably found reason to expand the search warrant so have done so and returned.

27. Yeah. But that has to be a given. I mean, think about if it were really
a stand-alone option.

It's a given.

8. There was an interview where a neighbor said the parents are assholes.
But that's worth as much as one ex-classmate calling the shooter a liberal pot-head.

But who the heck knows why people say what they do.

24. I used to live up in that part of Idaho and
Ruby Ridge is still a sore thumb there. The Weavers because of their intransigence and belief that the government (FBI) didn't have any
jurisdiction over them got overkill in military-like response from the Feds really considering their "crime" wasn't all that much. These Arizona people probably haven't done anything illegal, but by their refusal to comply with the FBI might get overkill in response as well. I hope not.

36. They've already been there with the search warrant.
And usually in the case of a search warrant, the cops or feds bring in the SWAT team, do a knock-and-announce entry - they knock once, yell "POLICE!" and less than a second later, kick in the door and storm the house.

If they're not doing that, then they don't have a warrant, and the parents are probably doing what their lawyer is advising them to do - refuse to talk to the feds or the press, redirect all inquiries to the lawyer, shut the doors and keep quiet.

39. FBI undoubtedly got a federal search warrant on Saturday AM, about 5 minutes
after they bagged the suspect, and probably executed it about 5 minutes later. My guess is, they are back to question the parents and/or serve an expanded search warrant.

12. It seems if they have a proper search warrant that they do.
I don't know what kind of laws AZ has about that or maybe the Feds can override any state statutes.

He lived in their basement.
And I'd certainly hope if the FBI was asking to be let in, they would have a search warrant.

Oh boy... I hope this ends peacefully.

28. Why does it take 48 hours after the shooting to search this guy's house?!?!
I know they need to get a search warrant and stuff, but after such a horrible rampage why can't they just get a judge to write a search warrant in 5 seconds??

Expecially, they don't know if there were other conspirators or whatever, so there still could have been some public danger immediately following the shooting that I would think they would want to get in there ASAP.

No doubt they've already been there, but at some point they probably have to leave and return.

40. I can pretty much guarantee you that the FBI swore out and obtained that search warrant
within 5 minutes of bagging the suspect, and executed it within 5 minutes of that. My guess is, they found reason to expand the search warrant and have done so, either that or are interested in questioning the parents.

41. as stated else where here .... I am certain that the FBI
had a warrant within minutes after the arrest and did a search ....
if they want to do another search they need another warrant ...
and yes if they have a warrant they have to let them in ... Feds override anything on the
state level ... just my 2 cents and kinda doing a recap .
...
