We got too used to shrub and his ways of running roughshod over everyone
Back to the dirty business of politics now and it is difficult to be ok with it.

1. Shrub mostly didn't want government to do anything, so having Congress
block passage of new laws and regulations made him happy.

When he did want to get something out, Congress pretty much gave him what he asked for. His Dad had a tough time getting us into the Gulf the first time. Shrub was pretty much handed a blank check by a Congress afraid of seeming unpatriotic after 9/11.

Obama is dealing with pretty much the same Congress, minus some Democratic/Progressive stalwarts and chock full of fresh new Tea Party personnel. So we still have a Congress that wants to block anything new. He's trying to coax a stubborn elephant and people are screaming that he'll get better results bashing it with a 2x4 across the nose. I don't think that's be any more successful as a metaphorical action than if you tried it with a real elephant!
