Obama vs. Repubs= Dad vs. a screaming tantruming child--the winner is the one who waits it out
I don't understand why all this blame is being heaped on Obama in here.

As a candidate, of course he had high hopes and aspirations and I believe he was honest about it but the job he was hoping for and the job he got are two different things. No president since WWII has faced a more daunting challenge.

But this economic crisis was made on purpose. The richest people in the world are sparing few expenses to destroy the social system in this country. The media has swung right and attacks the President on every opportunity. CNN has already made comments that Obama is losing in the next election to the Republican candidate...even though nobody knows who that is.

Obama is doing politics with a group whose goal is it damage the system at whatever cost. They will call the President a liar and demean him at every opportunity. The media follows through by destroying anything positive that comes from the White House.

Doubt me? We are in several wars, on the brink of economic disaster, and the news is covering how the First Lady is a liar and a cheat because she ate a hamburger.

The poison the right is spreading is sinking into the country deep. Kock Brothers spend their money to elect minions. Murdoch brainwashes whole swaths of the country that democrats are enemies. The newest political party has on their website "Democrats are not the opposition, they are the enemy. Every word they say is a lie."

Well, I for one see what Obama is up against. An enemy that has used the President's race to get the racists politically involved. These people would cut off their arm rather than embrace a black President. They will not compromise. An enemy that has used religion and abortion to get the religious radicals politically involved. These people think they are bearing the message of God and as religious zealots throughout the age of man have proved over and over again--they will not compromise. An enemy that has positioned the rich so that they have more money in the bank than the US Government...and the super rich like it that way. They will spend whatever they have to destroy Obama's social programs.

Yeah, his message of hope is really battered and beaten up but not because of failing on his part but because he faces a continual onslaught from a well funded and well managed army of people that have been brainwashed to hate Obama, to hate the Democrats and to go to whatever extreme they have to to defeat their "evil" enemy.

I was a Hillary supporter so I was never emotionally involved in Obama's election. I was pleased for African American kids to have a role model in the White House and I hoped that it would lead to further healing over race issues in this country so I took the positive side of things.

But I'm very disturbed at the teardowns of the President in here. I stopped reading my local paper because the comment sections had become overrun with an army of haters who were well-organized and fast to respond. It feels like some of those same tactics are jumping up in here now. Messages that are veiled attempts to demoralize the enemy seem to keep popping up. Saying Romney will be president now...what good does that do? Beats down the Democrats, that's what. Not just the Obama supporters but all of us. It breaks our spirits to be strong.

Let the Republicans throw their tantrums and say "NO!" Every parent knows when a kid refuses you have three choices. Give in, Force them or wait them out. Waiting them out often includes bargaining, cajoling them, offering further rewards... and that is what we are seeing from Obama. Would you prefer he force them?

Stay strong people. The republicans have come out of this much worse than Obama.

I, for one, promise my vote now to Obama because of DADT and DOMA. They are not done deals yet but Obama will have my vote because no President EVER has done more for gay rights. I'm kinda thinking President Bachmann wouldn't be so good on gay rights.

And for the people saying they won't vote Democrat...my guess is you probably never do.

1. It's an apt analogy, but......
When I see a dad with a screaming, tantrum throwing child, and if the dad is just sitting there going "Sure....o.k....whatever you want..." and staying calm and continually giving in to the child then yes I'm going to blame that father for the kid being that way. Especially if all indications are that his approach to child rearing is to accomodate and give in to the spoiled brats demands.

I don't at all believe in spanking or hitting children. But kids also need to know who is in charge and know what they can and can't get away with. And especially if their horrid behavior is impacting other people.

Yes, the kid is still a spoiled, petulant brat. But it got that way because it was allowed to be that way and learned that being that way would bring minimal to no negative impact upon their life in any way.

So sure, if you want to use that analogy then fine. But it doesn't exactly let Obama off the hook.

2. i'm picturing a kid in a restaurant
who smashes his glass against the table and is running around slashing all the rest of the customers. And the dad sitting there telling everyone he's going to compromise with the kid.

3. ...um the winner is the screaming child, who got everything he wanted, except closing the diner down
and the Dad walks outside and boasts to everyone what a good parent he is.

4. Some of us are realists
Sure, there are those who live in Obama happy cloud land who believe everything is all rainbows and light, no matter what happens as long as Obama as President it must be right, but we all can't be that way.

Do you really expect everyone to close their eyes and ears, and think "Obama will win 2012 no matter what" over and over?

7. A father has the choice of telling the kid to go to his room
and not have to put up with the tantrum...Obama had no chance.
