Al Franken votes Yes.
Many people will be surprised. He's live right now on WCCO radio in Minneapolis, explaining why. He says it contains things he doesn't like but that the debt ceiling increase warrants its passage.

3. That's not going to happen, you know.
No way, no how. Al Franken is a staunch defender of progressive ideas. He's also a practical man. He is our Senator, not yours. Deal with your own state's officeholders, please.

15. Thanks. I worked very hard to get him elected. He's done
a great job. It's amazing that a single vote is enough for some people to dump a solid progressive. Not surprising, really, but pretty amazing. I don't think anyone could survive those standards.

25. You have not one, but two great senators.
I like to think that they're both carrying on the proud tradition of Paul Wellstone. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this current vote, but it doesn't change how I feel about him. Minnesota would be lucky to have him for several more terms.

30. Amy Klobuchar is very popular in the state, for sure.
She sometimes is less progressive than I'd like, though. Unless she decides not to run in 2012, though, she'll keep her seat. She's touched and helped too many people in Minnesota to be primaried successfully. She gets another term, I'm certain.

24. Purity, are you f*in kidding.
No, on the important issues I ask to support the people, not wall street. This is THE important issue and don't come at me with that purity shit (that is just a word meant to minimize someone else's opinions to make them seem out of the mainstream). I know Al is more centrist than progressive on many issues, but he still is left leaning centrist - so that position doesn't bother me as much. But this vote is the defining moment for this nation, and it will be remembered. This isn't something that will be swept under the carpet by overloading the intertubes with so much chaff the people can't see reality anymore. People are awake. Look at the social media's where this is a hot topic and no way for anyone to clutter up the stream with chaff.

39. So, your anger over one position negates all the good Franken has done.
This vote is far from the defining moment for this country, not by a long shot.

In six months all of DU will have forgotten all about this, and be all pissing themselves over The Next Big Outrage.

Did you hear that Jim DeMint has threatened to place a primary challenger against ANY Republican who votes "yes" on the Boehner-McConnell-Obama debt deal? And the tea-baggers are cheering him on!
