Keith challenged us to mobilize, tonight.
He called for general strikes and people in the streets.

He pointed his finger at the camera -- at us -- and told us it was up to us to preserve democracy, individually and collectively.

Is there any organizing going on in this regard?

1. Lots of recs but no responses. If this is the catalyst to get
people moving, it will take a little while, probably. And as always DU (my go-to-news-source) will have the info! :hi:

What, lay my body on the gears of the machine? I'd get my shirt dirty.

3. I hope there is a transcript

He told us not to expect politicians or the media to stop the juggernaut that has attacked the Constitution.

7. that looks like the work of one lone blogger...
...and while I wish him/her the best, I think a bigger effort will be required for organization.

5. I'm going to try to do something here
Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly what. I was going to check with the rep's office, to see if they have any literature they want to pass out in the next couple of weeks, and to find out if the malls here (like in California) allow people to set up tables and pass out literature. I'm not sure exactly what kind of literature I should pass out, but perhaps, at the very least, voter registration forms. I was thinking of putting together a couple of posters, with "teabaggers" or "tea party" vertically, and some witty saying or words to describe them, but wasn't sure if it would be fair to do the same with GOP or "republicans" in the same manner. Hell, at this point, if I bypass the rep's office, maybe I'll throw in the dems for this horrendous deal as well!

I don't have access to a printer, but I think I can set up a FB page or something to attract well motivated people to join in with their own ideas, though I think it's often difficult to get FBers to do a whole lot of nothing, which is pretty much true about everyone, nowadays.

8. FBers will do flash mobs, won't they?
And there surely are plenty of people who know how to do a flash mob. Al Gore encouraged us tonight to use the Internet to organize.

16. You've got the right idea. Demonstrations and rallies are fun but...
the real work is on the streets knocking on doors and getting the vote out.

I am very big on tabling-- setting up card tables with signs and literature at strip malls, the Post office... Wherever there's people and they let you.

But don't do it alone. Find your local Democratic club, or whoever is running the local campaigns this year and sign up. Work on the local campaigns for now-- they will need all the help they can get and someone will be running for something this year. Stopping by the Rep's office may help you find the local guys. If nothing else, see if MoveOn or OFA is active around you. Some weird thing with election law that neither of them are allowed to directly work for a campaign, at least around here, but you're networking and making contacts. Local contacts and organizations are the lifeblood of politics, no matter what steaming, hyperventilating bloggers, posters, and TV personalities say.

Next year you'll have made your contacts and can work for the national candidates.

Just remember that anything this Congress did can be undone by the next one.

6. Rep. John Conyers Calls For ‘Thousands Of People’ Protest In Front Of White House
Sept. 21, 2011.

At a press conference organized by members of the “House Out of Poverty Caucus,” Conyers encouraged those who agreed with him to march on Washington in protest of Barack Obama’s additions to the debt ceiling deal and in order to “educate” the President:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op66HTJdf-U&feature=player_embedded#at=37

1987 passed a full employment bill... This allows the govt. to intervene and create jobs...

10. Why mobilize if we won?
Keith needs to read some of the threads in General Discussion Presidency.

Apparently this bill is like one of Ohio State's games from 2010. The victor changes within a few months.
