Damn, those repukes are good.
When they want something done, they create a crisis and threaten a crash.

You've got to give it to the hostage taking minority. Give us what we want or we'll blow up the economy. Deal. Give us what we want else we'll shut down the government. Deal. Give us what we want or we'll default on our debt. Deal.

Crystal ball time: Extend the bush tax cuts or else we'll _________. When you give in to the terrorists you are only encouraging them and guaranteeing that it will happen again.

5. I know them better. :P Naomi Klein is arrogant or she'd have a real understanding.
She's just in the way.

DU is such a weird little antique store of comments and perspectives. Case in point, there.

10. it will be the reverse.
If the Dems just let all of them expire,, the Republicans will charge they raised taxes on the middle class in an election year.

So once again they will be blacked mailed and it will mostly like be a replay of the last time.

They will all stay in place through next year's election..

4. As has been said several times by others
Edited on Tue Aug-02-11 12:12 AM by DefenseLawyer
You make an assumption here that "our" side didn't want the same result. I'm not in a position to make that assumption at this time. I'd say the evidence makes it just as likely that they (our side) didn't cave, they simply used the same "crisis" as political cover to put in place a framework to privatize social security.

7. Ah, the ol "Harlem Globetrotters - Washington Generals" argument
The repukes an only slam dunk if the Dems are incompetent, and at the end of the day their paychecks come from the same guy in the head office.

I'm starting to agree with that argument.

6. They are also masters at messaging and the art of the sound bite.
You have to respect that they all stay on point and keep hammering the same points (lies) home over and over.

8. When the Democrats took over Congress in 2007
There was much pressure on them to defund the Iraq War. I would have loved to have seen the 9-alarm whining from the Bush Administration and all of the neo-con think tanks if the troops all had to be brought home en masse and war unceremoniously ended.

But alas that will just have to remain a counterfactual fantasy.

9. No, they're not. They're *sly*.
There is nothing "good" about that.

They play "the game" and change the rules as they see fit.

They have no compassion nor understanding for their fellow human beings.

They are not to be admired, but to be ridiculed.

As you admire them for their disgusting actions, so we shall "lose" to their sly ways.
