"Romney, Bachmann Oppose Debt Deal" - Will This Help Them Garner Liberal Support?
The Republican presidential candidates slam President Obama, and like many liberals, hold him directly responsible for the debt deal that is being approved by Congress. Will this help them garner bipartisan support from liberals, as well as members of the Tea party?

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2011/08/01/bloomberg1376-LP96UH6JTSEX01-4BUCUNQ3BID2AG7BVVCD5M3MKH.DTL

Mitt Romney, who leads the 2012 Republican presidential field in both national polls and fundraising, came out against the debt-limit compromise awaiting a congressional vote, as did other candidates seeking his party's nomination.

"My plan would have produced a budget that was cut, capped and balanced -- not one that opens the door to higher taxes and puts defense cuts on the table," Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, said in a statement released by his campaign. "I personally cannot support this deal."

Also coming out against the plan were Republican candidates Tim Pawlenty, a former Minnesota governor, and Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, a favorite of the Tea Party movement.

"This deal is nothing to celebrate," said Alex Conant, a spokesman for Pawlenty, in a statement. "Only in Washington would the political class think it's a victory when the government narrowly avoids default, agrees to go further into debt and does little to reform a spending system that cannot be sustained by our children and grandchildren."

6. Why, no.
The tea party are likely to wail the deal didn't go far enough, and liberals won't be able to stomach all the extras you get with a Bachmann or a Romney candidacy, like a wish list that includes homophobia and so-called market-based health care.
