These are the consequences of political failure. These are the consequences of a society that did not value its treasure...freedom of speech, truth, and dedication to a better life for all its citizens. This is the result. These are the kinds of people who come to power.
The owners of The Ownership Society want to sell it off to foreigners and live behind walls. These blind mice who do their bidding scurry from table to table gobbling up the tiny scraps that sustain them. And we the People, allowed it, watched and some--for only one reason--helped it continue. .
So now we have capitulated...or have we...to the jack-booted thugs who would knock down the doors of society, and slash at everything or everyone who is unprotected. In their fever to succeed at what drives them on, they would destroy whatever pieces of the Great Experiment that they have not torn apart in the last 30 years.
The Republican buzzards are circling overhead, waiting. Unless someone stops them, they will swoop down again and again, to pick this country to pieces. This is not about fiscal responsibility, or setting deadlines or even about addressing the problems of government.
Look in their eyes. Listen to the tone in their voices. This is about hatred.
How can it feel this wrong?
