Period. That is the only way to turn this around.

1. We were once organized. To get Obama elected we were majorly organized. I think we're in shock
from all that's happened since he took office. And afraid to trust anyone else again.

16. Campaigned as a moderate Dem with lots of promises
Kept true agenda hidden. If he had governed from the center it would be one thing, but all this capitulation is just betrayal.

Where is Hillary when we need her? Her true agenda was never hidden.

I voted for the Democrat as well as I should, but I've been watching a horrible debacle take place ever since. No one was EVER as bad as GWB, but we didn't progress with Obama, and we should have realized it during the campaign--"change" is one thing, but "change into a DINO" is quite another.

Sorry--I have lost a lot of faith in the presidency. I think I will go back to writing "White House" with small letters like I did during GWB's reign of terror. There hasn't been a whole lot of change in the past three years. :(

6. We were organized enough to put Dems in charge of the House, Senate and WH.
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 08:05 PM by Zenlitened
Why do so many seem to forget that, choosing instead to lecture us about organizing?

11. Also, I remember people giving Howard Dean a LOT of crap about his 50-state organizing strategy.
Until it worked! And got Obama elected.

Then many of the complainers ended up taking credit for it.

Then Koch Brothers took that same idea and ran with it. Paying for their 'community organizers' and 'grassroots' demonstrations to create havoc and the eventual Tea Party. And then they were able to implement their 50-state governors takeover project which has worked out quite well for them so far.

Maybe what we really need are some super-deep-pocketed Progressive backers!

12. i agree...
and getting DEM majority paid off real well, didn't it? :sarcasm:

I am beginning to think we can;t work within the system, all of them are crooks and bought & paid for

sometimes it seems like voting, marching, etc is futile... maybe it's better to think in terms of torches & pitchforks.
storm the bastille!

...deserve credit for doing so. Not a bipartisan share of the reprimand.

What's made our work so difficult... what's "blow(n) up our efforts... is the lack of support for our message and sometimes outright hostility both from above and within the party.

state by state strategy. Of course, we know how Obama thanked Mr. Dean.

The problem that we have is when a real democrat runs and is not part of the "established" democratic circle, unfortunately, they usually don't get endorsed. The establishment will go for the DINO every time because that's who is running the show.

To me, who has been choosing our candidates has been the corporate media. When you can basically sweep alleged insider trading, driving record, military record and drug use under the rug with the help of the media, then we got some problems. Also, when the media can slam a candidate over and over again about lying when they didn't, about UFO's, or showing a tape over and over again someone talking over the crowd and making it into some fekkin big deal-then we should know by now that we are being influenced by corporate media.

10. The first place to begin is to stop the circular firing squads and
start dialogue. As for leaders, we find our own.

For years, I have been asking about general strikes and the like, and this morning I made an argument for organizing and dealing with Congress. I'm tired of being shouted down. We need to get together.

22. I agree. It's wasted energy.
Maybe the Unions are a good place to start. There is a concerted effort to destroy them on the right, which they learned in Wisc. I am sure they would get support if they did. Strikes hit them where it hurts. Otoh, now that they are able to take their business overseas, they tend to do so. That's why it is necessary to tax those who do that. Right now they have no incentive not to. But that would require changing the makeup of Congress.

Wonder what those lame-ass congresscritters would think if they found a zillion people sitting in outside the Capitol, in Lafayette Park, on the mall, on Pennsylvania Avenue ... maybe sitting in the middle of the roads they need to drive on to get home from their hard day of ruining all our lives.

14. And we definitely need to organize at the LOCAL level!!!
If we've learned anything in 2011, it's that the state and municipal activities are just as, if not more important, and are being invaded by the same forces that fucked up the federal level.

Talk to the grocery cashier about how great unions are. Talk to the other parents at daycare about education. Talking about presidents and senators will only bring up media-driven divisions, while rats are sneaking under the dumpsters right in our back yards!!!!!

Educated.

Informed.

Involved.

THAT is what has been missing!

Don't let your state become the next Wisconsin or Florida or Ohio! 'Tis much easier to prevent it than to repel it!!
