"Lowest level of domestic spending since Dwight Eisenhower"
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 02:41 AM by DontTreadOnMe
Are you not just jumping for joy on this deal!

"wide-ranging cuts in federal aid to states, affecting everything..."

Can someone add the above sentence to the Official White House Accomplishment List.

Maybe we should list EACH of the wide-ranging cuts... this "cuts' list will be probably be TWICE AS LONG as any positive accomplishments on Obama's watch.

Hey cheer up! It will be a slow, drawn out austerity period for the next decade...

1. You must not understand Kabuki Aikido, Leading-From-Behind, grasshopper.
By doing everything the Right wants... he's showing us how horrible it will be if we let them win the next election!...or...something like that, I haven't figured it all out myself.

7. Into which loop are we supposed to stick our necks?
I'm a little nervous.

That knot doesn't appear strong enough to snap anyone's neck.

Seems that one would suffer and struggle and die slowly over time.

Wait, does that mean I'm learning, master?

2. "Can someone add the above sentence to the Official White House Accomplishment List." -- Word!
this isn't making any of us happy that there's so much discontent among Democrats, and the president is at his lowest approval ratings. It makes so many of us sick. What was "acomplished" was watered down on several big issues, and the GOP was allowed to be given so much of what they wanted just to get their unneeded votes on the stimulus that they didn't support anyhow, and the debt deal, my goodness, what can be said, they got nearly every single thing that they wanted and all that the president got was what he should have been able to get without all these cuts, which was an increase to the debt. Both tea party members on MSNBC said they both are voting for it already, that says a lot...

5. We are fucked for at least a generation
This will entrench us in a second Great Depression. Clueless. Beyond clueless to actually brag about this. A Democratic president proud to be to the right of Eisenhower. :puke:

I mean when some guy in prison fucks you, at least you know that no one else is going to fuck you because you're now someone's bitch.

8. Medicare was passed after Eisenhower left office... lower spending than before medicare?
We're talking lower spending than during Kennedy's administration, which was before medicare also... and lower than Johnson etc., all post medicare.

Well, a Democratic president should feel proud, cutting domestic spending (spending on Americans) below pre-medicare levels... :+

It's time to get rugged & individualist again, I guess. I think bank and train robbery are fine solutions... though maybe buses and check cashing centers will make nice stepping stones... ;)

9. This austerity move will GUARANTEE a worldwide depression...
I am not just 'unhappy' with Obama.. I say he should do the right thing and resign. Spare the country the disgrace and harm that he is doing.

Let Biden finish out the last year and give the country a chance to primary a DEM candidete for potus.

16. You are absolutely correct.
What we need now is more domestic spending. Not less. The wars need to end and the soldiers will come home to nothing. We need to be building bridges and painting fire hydrants.

10. It makes me puke
Eisenhower had a good economy so he could justify low spending. He also taxed the poop out of the rich.

12. here's the funny thing. not sure if they did it or not here, but they were going to...
property tax cap. they were talking about doing it. i was thinking what a terrible idea that would be. while no one WANTS their taxes to go up, the idea of hamstringing yourself like that is insane. I am not sure if they got that through. I hope they didn't now. Because with this shit sandwich we are being dealt, they will wish they hadn't.
