Spending cuts means no new jobs and a jobs bill will never pass now.

The GOP knows spending cuts will mean less government money spent in a already faltering economy. So more economic bad news.

And all the GOP has to do it block any job initiatives until the election next year.

1. While states figure out ways to raise revenues AND cut services. So the Federal
Govt's "deal" might be fine for TPTB, but not so much in RL.

2. What are the spending cuts? Is the military cut that Reid put in still
included? They were up in arms about that.

13. I'm sure we won't be thrilled, but they won't be, either. Tough times
require tough decisions. We DID touch their sacred cow -- the military, so I don't know why people are saying they didn't give up anything! And I think when we really see the final bill and see how the vote goes, we'll still not be thrilled by it, but may understand why some of the concessions were necessary. Or maybe not. :7

14. Looks like we got some good things in the deal ...

No default.

Cuts to the Defense Budget.

Did not touch Social Security. Medicare and Medicaid are still intact!

The Bush tax cuts are being left untouched, meaning they WILL expire December 31, 2012!

And there is NO Balanced Budget Amendment stipulation in the new agreement :)

15. Well WTF are people whining about then? Sheesh! Sounds
good to me!

Now we just have to see if it'll pass!

Do you know when the first vote is?

18. Looks like Monday. See below

SNIP

Democratic and Republican leaders in both the House and Senate were briefing their caucuses about the agreement on Sunday night and Monday. A Senate Democratic leadership aide told CNN that the Senate planned to vote first on the measure on Monday afternoon, and if the measure passes an expected Republican filibuster attempt, the House could vote on it Monday night.

4. And the DEMOCRATS got some of what we want.

No slashes to Medicare, did not touch SS, and Medicaid is still intact!

The Bush tax cuts are being left untouched, meaning they WILL expire December 31, 2012!

And there is NO Balanced Budget Amendment stipulation in the new agreement :)

10. That's incorrect. Auto cuts to Medicare if Catfood II doesn't
agree on a program. Cuts to other social programs for poor Americans and for vets.

No guarantee the Bush cuts will be allowed to expire, either

No revenue, only cuts which will hurt the economy as the OP correctly points out.

6. Even Don Lemon had to mention ..ahem spending cuts not good for growth..
but he said it to another CNN guy, they'd never confront a teapublican with the truth.

The must stop coddling liars. They REALLY are responsible with all the low info types watching

17. Yeah, that's what a "balanced" agreement would include. I've heard
a chunk of the cuts are military/Pentagon - are you against that? Not ALL cuts are bad, but there are sure to be some we don't like as I'm sure there will be ones THEY don't like, either.

12. Yeah you are probably right but
I'm beginning to think why do the repub. need to run a candidate next year? As a party they've been pretty successful with Obama in the whitehouse. Could a republican president really have gotten away with trillions in cut, (with SS, Medicare and Medicaid on the table) with out any new taxes? Bush Tax cuts have been extended, Military spending is at an all time high, the peasants have been mandated to purchase private health insurance, Fed employee pay has been frozen, etc. What more do can the Repubs wish for?
