Why is McConnell smiling?
He and his cronies did something that has never been done before in the history of this country. To be sure, he had early on promised to destroy the Obama presidency. But in our history there has been no action to parallel this sudden twisting of rules, this out of the blue tying of one thing to another to create a disruption calculated to throw the nation into dizzying imbalance. There was no precedent to compel awareness in that direction, and it behaved much as one of those rogue waves that sometimes sink ships without warning. They simply declined to do the jobs they took an oath to do, throwing the resulting mess on Obama's desk, accusing Obama of anything they felt like accusing him of and relying on their complicit allies in the media to help smear the feces.

While the president was going about the task of righting the ship that was already foundering when he came on board, they were drilling new holes in the hull. No other president has ever been hit with such a concerted, planned, unrelenting series of distractions and outright attacks; and he's been dealing with all that UNNECESSARY garbage on top of his already overly full workload. It has never stopped since they promised to start it. Some days it's a swarm of gnats, some days it's a hovering wasp, other days it's a pack of rabid dogs. And we've stood behind him and told him that he's not good enough, that he's not a real Democrat, that's he's disappointing as a progressive. We've stood behind him and held our tongues while they were doing everything but calling him 'boy' to his face.

Some days, boys and girls, we suck. No wonder McConnell is smiling.

3. Um, he always looks like a turtle who ate a fly. Aren't you going a bit overboard?

Do you really think this will pass the Teabagger House without the balanced budget amendment they demanded - and got - from Boehner's debt plan?

And, btw, speak for yourself. McConnell is smiling because this White House fell right over as if on cue. He has every right to smile.
