More on the deterioration of our oceans
I just took these pics off the coast of Massachusetts not 3 hours ago.

Further destruction of our oceans could mean the disappearance of creatures like these:

There were a few mother-and-newborn-calf pairs, just stunning creatures.

I want my grandchildren to be able to experience this, too.

3. You got it on the first try!
It's a royal pain in the ass for us, as we have to fly from Duesseldorf to Paris to Boston, but we love the outer Cape, and make the trip every year.

We stay in Truro, as it's far less crowded, but I come in to P-town to shop, do local radio shows, try the restaurants and go on whale watches.

4. Truro... love the area.
It's one of the few places you can easily get the sense that the ocean is closing in on you. There are a few places you can stand where you can see both the inner and outer cape.

I like to get out once a year. Maybe even this one.

6. If they go, so will humans.
Many sub-species of dolphins and whales have more in common with humans than apes do. We share a large and well-developed cerebral cortex, where critical thinking, abstract thought, future planning and other qualities are thought to occur. They have been living peacefully and intelligently in the oceans for 30 million years. Living in the element that we are so dependent upon and yet is so alien to us. I sincerely doubt that humanity can survive if we damage the oceans so severely that we lose the cetaceans.

7. Awesome pics!
I lived on the cape for 7 years and never went on a whale watch. I did experience a 5 foot sand shark swimming right past my legs though. That was neat, in a sphincter pucking way. :)

Thanks for sharing the photos!
