I think we have to outcrazy the T party
I'm starting a campaign for the US citizens to default on all of their debt if the Congress screws again in favor of the wealthy and the corporations.

Are you in?

They take away my earned benefits, I crush their backers.

1. We can't outcrazy them. It'll never work.
They are too fucking nuts and don't care about who they hurt. We are never going to reach that point.

3. its not impossible.
you have to think like they do. Do not care about country or community. Think only about what is good for yourself...right here, right now.

6. Even better... GENERAL STRIKE!
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 11:34 AM by RoccoR5955
If they cut the "Big Three," Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
We should pose a general strike, until they are reinstated, and the ultra rich are taxed back to 1960 levels!

9. general strike takes effort
we have a lazy populace. Telling them to not pay their bills is more in line with what they'll be willing to not raise a finger to do

10. Anyone who seriously believes there would be a general strike in this country
is living in the Alternate DU Universe where reality does not apply.

16. Hell, I think we SHOULD do both
but I'm not sure it's to the point that we could get popular support for either.

Some of us have been taking all sorts of action, and organizing people for most of our lives.

14. Could we instead try to outmaneuver them?
Don't pay your debts and the only one who will be hurting is you. "General strike" by only people who agree with us will only cost us our jobs (if we have one). Hell, we can't even convince people to stop buying things made overseas.

What we need to do is be as loud and persistent and in-your-face as they are. We need to keep up the outcry to the legislators. They do work for the wealthy, but they also have to balance that with a way to get re-elected. We should be writing LTTE countering every bit of bullshit that is out there with facts. And maybe we have to do more scaring the crap out of people about what these policies will really mean to them.

So, although I do agree that we have to fight this movement, I think we should be collectively smart enough to do it without going to the crazy side.

15. I don't believe that the maneuvering you suggest will work
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 11:58 AM by Fresh_Start
you can try it. but they are obviously impervious to our concerns.
I won't go to violence but I will go to economic chaos.
There's no reason why I should suffer economic chaos without making them share that pain.

18. But, you will not be making them share the pain.
That is the real problem. They will eat you up and spit you out, and keep right on eating everything in their path. I, for one, want to avoid being eaten. I have already stopped buying anything that is not essential. That is the only thing that I can do economically, and that is really not an answer, since I hurt good people who need jobs when I end my consumerism. The economy will not improve with my attitude. But you will be causing yourself great pains by a refusal to pay your debts. And the world will continue to turn for the wealthy. Believe it.

17. Yeah, and after that let's out-hypocrisy Hannity, out-drink Boehner ...
out-lie Limbaugh, out-stupid Palin, and out-swim a barracuda.

(I agree with your underlying sentiment, but in this case, the crazy bar is simply too high.)

21. Sounds good, but don't forget they don't care if we default
on our credit, they are insured against that happening, some of them are even betting on it, ghouls that they are. But I like the idea of doing to them what they have been doing to us.

We have to find a way that costs them money, lots of it. And then organize and do it.

How nuts are they? How high is up?

As fucked up as a left-handed football bat, they are.
