Morning Schmo: At first I was angry
A few minutes ago on the Schmo Show:

"My wife and I were watching TV as the Arizona story unfolded, and at first she was extremely upset and angry. We both were. It looked like certain political figures and their rhetoric had played a role in this. But now it's looking more and more like the shooter is just a deranged individual."

Really Joe? No kidding.

Wouldn't ANYone who shoots someone in the head and then proceeds to shoot random people including seniors and children be classified as just a tad deranged?

Wouldn't inflamed rhetoric tend to inflame these deranged people even more?

And even if the shooter had never heard of "certain political figures" wouldn't it be appropriate to encourage those same figures not to mention the media clowns who take rhetoric to ridiculous levels on a daily basis to TONE IT DOWN - ?!!

Wouldn't it? Hm?

Grrr ... why do I even watch that show?

1. The frame. "It looked like certain political figures and their rhetoric had played a role in this".

"It looked like certain political figures and their rhetoric had played a role in this".

To any casual observer, nay, to any sentient being with a hint of consciousness that must be an observation.

But then he goes on to misdirect and parade it around as the 'real' cause - the shooter is deranged. Of course the shooter is deranged.

I think we can at least draw a dotted line between popular political rhetoric, images, behaviors and actions and the shooters behavior.

3. I don't know how you can watch that bullshit. Joe Scumbag is a Republican
through and through and will never be honest enough to call them out. And Mika is as dumb as they come, only there to echo and agree with everything he says. Sadly my father watches this crap and believes that Scumbag is "reasonable." SAD!!!

4. The frame: JFK, OK City, Anthrax and this...lone crazed shooter--nothing to see here
They will pound away and repeat this mantra until people are tired of hearing it and move on.

5. We don't know anything about the shooter being deranged or not
As a matter of fact we don't know shit except that he kept to himself. His classmates and neighbors didn't have a clue. Joe is just catapulting the propaganda like the good little shill he is. Jared Loughner hasn't been quoted even once. No history of mental illness has been found.

All else is pure conjecture.
