so CNN was interviewing the annoying brit
that hosts CNN-I and he said something that was striking about this debate in DC... mostly I heard the same thing from my mother. Outside the US (and I suspect in some quarters here)... none can believe the US will actually default.

He also threw the specter of a very short term technical default (what happened to Carter)... but this is what is going on. It will happen, but people cannot believe it will happen...

Yep, some of the crap at the dentist's chair.

1. Is "brit" cool? Do British people refer to themselves as "brits?"
I am not accusing you of anything, I just don't know.

in Mexico City.. yes... one of the Instructors was from Suffolk and used to regale us with stories about us Brits.

4. Jan Schakowsky referenced that "very short term" technical
default the other day. Interest rates immediately went up about 6%, and although they rectified the problem in a few days, the rates REMAINED up. Don't know if the person you're referring to was using it as a warning or dismissing it as insignificant. But it wasn't insignificant.

5. No he was talking of it as a serious matter
technical default will not be good either. It will be better than a full fledge default, but not good.
