The Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik wrote a racist slur about Stella Mwangi, a Norway-based Kenyan singer who represented Norway in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, his diary has revealed.
In the diary entry dated the 14th of May, 2011, Breivik wrote about Mwangi: “My country has a crap, politically correct contribution.” He called Mwangi “an asylum seeker from Kenya,” and went on to mock her Swahili song “Haba Haba,” sarcastically writing that Mwangi was “performing a bongo song, very representative of Europe and my country.”
Kenyan-born singer Stella Mwangi moved to Norway with her parents at the age of five, and is widely regarded as one of Norway’s most popular musicians. She did not qualify for the final round of the continental singing competition, but her song, “Haba Haba” has continued to receive massive airplay on international TV, and has topped the official singles chart in Norway.
Breivik, a racist right wing Norwegian Freemason who has admitted to killing over 76 people in one of the worst massacres in history, had written a 1,500-page diary detailing his preparations for the bomb and gun attack. The journal was published online on Friday, just a couple of hours before carrying out the attacks.
