So simple, you wonder why the President doesn't bring it up all the time! Right? Right?

DeFazio: Budget crisis is solved if Congress does nothing
DeFazio: Obama extends Bush tax cuts to create a crisis then wants to cut spending to protect the tax cuts!

Those two links are a total of 5 small paragraphs and one minute and 8 seconds of video. They're really worth the brief time it takes to look over.

5. And if you only get rid of the tax cuts for the income over $250,000/$200,000 it's only $700 Billion
Most of the Bush tax cuts are for income under the top bracket which Obama says is the middle class.

6. You can't get a working/middle class exemption
Not with the government we have now. You couldn't get one with the government we had in December, 2010, either.

I was in favor of letting all the tax cuts expire, but having the President capitulate then is what gives the tea partiers the recklessness they have today about getting their own way.

8. If only extending the Bush Tax Cuts would lead to an impasse like raising the Debt Ceiling. (nt)

12. That would mean Republicans would have to admit their dogma was a FAILURE
that did exactly the opposite of what they promised it would.

Now that is definitely the case, but no Republican, especially one in public office, ever wants to admit he's ever been wrong about anything.

The only hope we have is to take over both houses in 2012 and steamroll the ones that are left.

Unfortunately, that's a big "if" at this point and doesn't do a thing to address their manufactured crisis.

What Obama needs to do is use the bully pulpit again, and make sure he tells every couch potato in the country that the reason we're in this mess is because of the BUSH TAX CUTS that the Republicans won't let go of, even if it bankrupts the country.

Maybe an avalanche of negative public opinion and seriously threatening their cushy jobs in Congress would do it.
