If you know anyone, particularly anyone you care for, who is addicted to heroin you know what a terrible thing it is. And you watch them just plain destroying themselves and everyone and everything around them and it just makes you want to scream, because none of it has to be that way. And it doesn't matter what you say and it doesn't matter what you do, you just can't get them to act like they had any sense at all. You can't trick them into doing what is best for themselves, you can't bribe them into it, you just can't do a god damned thing. And its just a shame, just a crying fucking shame.

These Republicans are the same way.

They are destroying themselves and everything around them, and they will not listen to anything that makes any sense at all.

i've known some ex-addicts and some ex-republicans and they actually talk about it the same way.

like it was a self-consistent world that made them feel incredibly great but eventually it just didn't work for them and when the fog finally lifted they just looked back and said, "what the hell was i thinking?"

I know one.. He was a nabour of me, and stole my blind for 10 grand.... So Heroine Addics wil do everything, even stole from everyone who wanted to help him.. I learned it the hard way.. But at least I learned it before could do "real damage"..

Republicans looks like they are doing it in the same fasion that many heroine addicts are doing it.. They are less than 7 days away from going totaly broke now - if US is to defult on their debt, it wil be a ruin in most of US, And been the worste economical disaster sinse the great depression in the rest of the world - and we have had our share of "Nuclear disasters" in the economical sense the last couple of years allready..

But, that's is what you have, when you shoose fanatical ideology over pragmatism..

He had been such a clean-cut, good kid prior to having been drafted. He OD'd less then 5 years later. Very sad.
