1. Signed, even though I don't fully agree with the "never" part
Our safety nets need to be addressed, especially Medicare and that may require cuts. Medicare will turn into a monster that will kick the crap out of us.

However, this is not the time for the Republicans to turn a crisis which they largely help to create in order to attack social safety nets during the Great Recession.

4. not sure why you think it will kick the crap out of us
I'd rather support medicare increases than endless wars.

7. From a 2007 CBO report
The projections also assume that, even in the absence of changes in federal law, some of the measures adopted to slow growth in the rest of the health care system will moderate spending growth in Medicare and Medicaid and that regulatory changes at the federal level and policy changes at the state level will help to slow cost growth in those programs.3

The results of CBO’s projections suggest that in the absence of changes in federal law:

*Total spending on health care would rise from 16 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2007 to 25 percent in 2025, 37 percent in 2050, and 49 percent in 2082.

*Federal spending on Medicare (net of beneficiaries’ premiums) and Medicaid would rise from 4 percent of GDP in 2007 to 7 percent in 2025, 12 percent in 2050, and 19 percent in 2082.

At least our wars are protecting us and giving people new found freedoms. Just look at Libya. Our humanitarian mission has saved them from violence and oppression. Why would you want to defund that?

10. come on, are you serious?
the wars aren't "prtecting us" and they are mostly killing people and wasting our money.

2007 is quite a while back, I'm not sure that is the best source since we have the AHA now, which should help that equation. Historically, medicare costs have grown less than overall health care costs.

11. Of course I believe that Obama is protecting us and bringing peace and properity to the world
The comparison of medicare to overall health care costs is not a good comparison since HC costs are skyrocketing in America. Thankfully, we got the mandate which is much better than single payer or a PO to contain costs.

17. It never seems to do anything to sign one of those damn petitions.
I asked for sigs on one and got a few, what for, I do not know. Wish I had a nickle for everyone I've signed in the last 9 years.

19. the reason I am pushing this one is because I'd like to see Grayson go to the White House to
deliver the petition. It's got more of a clear goal.
