Damn this heat takes away all motivation....
I just need to drive 15 miles to return a bunch of stuff I bought for a recent business trip, but didn't end up needing. I got up early early early to walk the dog, run errands, and mail a bunch of packages... But, I am having the hardest time making myself go get in that hot hot car and drive across town. Even with A/C. Is that lazy or what?

So, how do you get motivated in this heat?

9. Ironic that where that map is pinkest (hottest), the climate-change denial is highest.
And note that Washington DC is pink.

11. Wow! No kidding...
I have a theory that most of the HOT AIR comes from FOX NEWS.

3. We're on our 30th day or so
of heat indexes above 100 degrees. Real temps have hit 109 at least a couple of times. And we are in a drought - about 12 to 15 inches below normal rainfall so far this year. Everything is dry and crispy and dying. It is impossible to keep things watered.

If you are waiting to get motivated to do something in the heat it'll never happen. You just have to decide to go do whatever it is that you need to do. And then you have to really go do it. Safely.

It helps to remember that somebody somewhere else is dealing with even hotter drier more miserable weather.

5. Ok.... So, I will revel in someone else's far worse misery...
;)

(and reward myself with a 30 minute run through the nice air conditioned mall on the way back.

Not fair, though that my doggy girl gets to luxuriate in the breeze of two super duper fans I have set up to supplement the struggling swamp cooler. She looks so contented now. Oh, well.....LOL

6. I'm near the 101 degree mark of Kansas
I drink 8-10 eight-ounce glasses of water a day, and I'm still miserable. Please think good thoughts for all of us men and women who have to work outdoors. At the risk of being a downer, however, this is all going to get worse before it gets better. The climate stuff is pretty effing frightening, and according to my MIT-grad brother, "it's going to happen so fast, we're not going to know what hit us ..." Depressing stuff, actually. So I'm going to be brave, volunteer, give money when I can, and keep on keepin on, I guess.

7. Stay safe.... Yes... I do worry about those working outside.
I just hope they have management that give a "shit" about their welfare.

8. Well, since you mentioned it ...
My husband works for a power & light company as a lineman. Their CEOs top out, jump ship, then give it away to their buddies. He's pretty certain that the next will be axing union rights ... they are being forced to work 16-hour days during bad weather (rather than volunteering, on a rotating basis, for overtime.) Problem is, three or four days of that in a row, you start making errors. When you're up in the "bucket" working on lines, there is NO room for error, else you'll be fried, literally. Charlie has seen a number of coworkers lose their lives to this.

Me? I've convinced a few wealthier neighbors to take me on to water and manage their plantings around the perimeters of their homes. I drink water and hose down often. My biggest thrill was when one of them asked me, while I was working, if I had "been saved." If it wasn't for the $, I'd have told them to eff themselves. Oh well ...

19. I swear my IQ is 50 points lower by the end of the day. I feel stupid in the heat
and make the most ridiculous mistakes. Good thing I am the boss so I tend to try to shake it off and move on. It's no fun though. The heat is not my friend, I really hate it.

12. No offense but I live in South Florida
I live here year around. A lot of of my job is working outside. We have 90-93 everyday with about 80-90% humidity everyday. This lasts from June 1 to about Oct. 1. We seem to manage. (and I lived in Cleveland for 25 years so I know winter.)

14. We just blacked out the windows in the bedroom, living room and dining room.
It will help keep it cool plus it makes it extra dark in here. I LOVE IT!

16. Try working outside in it most every day.... I get motivated by telling myself that it
feels good. The sweat running down my sides and back feels good and it is a normal thing. Of course it doesn't feel good but I think you get my point. Also I don't think it is normal.

17. Need is the parent of motivation. If you need to do something bad
enough you will.

Here in MN we had the heat and humidity for at least a couple of weeks and today we are at 56 and less humidity. I have been complaining all day about how cold I am. You get used to it and now it is gone.

18. I tend to do my errands and stuff after 5pm
We are on our 22nd (23rd? I have forgotten at this point) day of it being 100 degrees or hotter. Like you, I just cannot bring myself to venture out in the middle of the day.
